Deadline reports that “Descendants: The Rise of Red” is the most-viewed Disney Channel Original Movie premiere in Disney+ history.
‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’ Viewership
“Descendants: The Rise of Red” garnered 6.7 million views in its first three days on Disney+, making it the most-viewed Disney Channel Original Movie in that timeframe according to Disney. Disney didn’t disclose which film’s record was broken.
When “Descendants 3” premiered on Disney Channel, it was viewed by 8 million people. The performance of “Descendants: The Rise of Red” is comparable to the “Descendants 3” premiere, especially considering it was on a streaming service rather than cable. “Descendants: The Rise of Red” is set to premiere on Disney Channel on August 9.
One of the most successful projects Disney+ has released is the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” premiere episode, which received 13.3 million views in six days. It seems unlikely that “The Rise of Red” will garner that many views within the next three days.
Earlier this month, a “Descendants: The Rise of Red” exhibit was added to the gallery space inside Walt Disney Presents.
