Disneyland Paris Sets Guinness World Record with Drone Display for Bastille Day

Disneyland Paris set a new Guinness World Records title for the “Largest aerial display of a fictional character formed by multirotors/drones” during their Bastille Day celebration on July 14.

The record was set by 1,571 drones creating a giant tricolor Mickey Mouse head over Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Bastille Day is the French National Day celebrating the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille in 1789 during the French Revolution. Like the French flag, the Mickey Mouse head was striped blue, white, and red.

The display was part of a larger 12-minute nighttime show created by Disneyland Paris Entertainment in collaboration with Dronisos. More than 1,630 drones, including pyro-drones, were used to create scenes representing classic Disney stories inspired by France. “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “The Aristocats,” and “Ratatouille” were all featured alongside national symbols like the Eiffel Tower and the rose window of Notre Dame Cathedral.

DLP Report shared a video of one moment featuring the three fairies from “Sleeping Beauty” as drones interacting with pyrotechnics:

The Bastille Day show was a one-night-only event but Disneyland Paris uses drones nightly during the Disney Electrical Sky Parade. Inspired by the Main Street Electrical Parade, the drone show debuted in January 2024 and features over 500 drones synchronized with lasers, video projections, lights, and fountains.
