‘Fantasmic!’ Stage Still Blocked From Guests at Disneyland

Over a month after “Fantasmic!” resumed performances at Disneyland, the show’s stage is still unavailable to guests during the day.

A rustic wooden building and dock featuring a small boat and crates are situated by a calm waterfront, with a large sailing ship and tall trees in the background.

Prior to the fire that destroyed the Maleficent dragon, guests could explore the “Fantasmic!” stage on Tom Sawyer Island, which closes before sunset. At that time, there were safety nets and railings around the stage.

After the fire, the stage was closed for construction work. For a time, construction walls and scrims blocked access to the stage. These are gone, but the stage is still closed to guests.

Guests can get close to the stage, but net fences block access. Safety railings were never reinstalled on the edges of the stage platforms.

We can’t be sure but we would guess this is a permanent change and guests won’t be allowed on the stage again anytime soon.

“Fantasmic!” no longer features Maleficent in dragon form. Instead, she’s on a rising tower. The nighttime spectacular had another pyrotechnic issue recently when Mickey’s fingers set off sparks a moment early. The show has since gone on without any reported issues or changes.
