Le Pays des Contes de Fées, the Storybook Land Canal Boats, will reopen at Disneyland Paris next month after a months-long refurbishment celebrating 30 years of the attraction.
Storybook Land Canal Boats Refurbishment
Le Pays des Contes de Fées will reopen on August 30, 2024, with three new scenes inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios films “Frozen” and “Winnie the Pooh,” and Pixar Animation Studios’ “Up.” The “Frozen” and “Winnie the Pooh” scenes were announced with concept art last October, and “Up” was announced this May.
Elsa’s ice palace on the North Mountain from “Frozen” and Carl Fredrickson’s flying house over Paradise Falls from “Up” are featured in the new attraction poster (above), which will be displayed under the Main Street, U.S.A. train station. “Winnie the Pooh” will be represented by the bear’s treehouse in the Hundred Acre Woods.
As indicated on the poster, the Storybook Land Canal Boats are now sponsored by bottled water brand Vittel. The attraction has an updated marquee and queue décor integrating the sponsor and “celebrating the role that water has played as a vital source of inspiration for magical adventures in Disney stories.”
Imagineers worked with Landscaping, Design & Delivery teams to update Storybook Land. The attraction’s iconic giant book has been redesigned and returned to its original spot. It now features a border of character portraits, including Anna and Elsa. The artwork on the right page is similar to its old look but has been refreshed. Surrounding pathways were also renovated.
Casey Jr. – le Petit Train du Cirque, which goes through Storybook Land, will also reopen on August 30.
The original version of Storybook Land Canal Boats opened with Disneyland in 1955, although it was not completed until 1956. The Disneyland Paris version opened two years after the park, in 1994.
