Disney and Developer/Publisher GungHo Online Entertainment have announced a new mobile RPG video game with 8-bit inspired graphics titled “Disney Pixel RPG” that will be released on September 9.
“Disney Pixel RPG” is a “free to play” game that feature 8-bit pixel art style versions of popular Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Maleficent, Ariel, Winnie The Pooh and more.
The game will feature a story about several of Disney’s isolated worlds merging after being attacked by “strange programs,” throwing all the characters into a state of confusion. The player will embark on a quest across the multiple different game worlds to “restore order.”
The game’s combat promises to feature fast paced strategic battles, that can be played using a simple control system and an auto-play function.
While the game is free to download, it will feature “in game purchases”, otherwise known as “microtransactions.” No other details on the cost of these in game purchases or what will be available for purchase have been released at this time.
