NEWS: A Budget Airline Is TEMPORARILY Limiting Flights To Disney World — Here’s What You Need To Know

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but flying to Disney World might have just gotten a bit tougher.

Flying can be stressful!

When it comes to planning a Disney World vacation, finding the right hotel, mulling over the perfect advanced dining reservations, and securing park tickets can be stressful enough. However, the flying process isn’t always the easiest and unfortunately, for one airline, it’s about to get more restrictive.

According to TribLIVE of Western Pennsylvania, Spirit Airlines is about to eliminate daily flights from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport to Orlando International Airport (MCO) this summer/fall.

Per an official statement, Spirit is making the change in August and September and will only fly from the Westmoreland County airport just outside of Pittsburgh four days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

With that said, daily flights are expected to return in October 2024.

According to a Spirit spokesman, the cutbacks are tied to GTF engine availability or, rather, a lack thereof. That particular engine has been the subject of inspections since mid-2023 and the future flight pullbacks will allow for a two-month inspection and repair window. The Federal Aviation Administration noted that roughly 425 jets in the United States will be affected by additional engine inspections.

Spirit Airlines has had a rocky go of it as of late. Mishaps, a new bag process that turned into a fiasco, and a blocked merger with JetBlue Airways have plagued the airline and we’re unsure what the future of this budget-friendly travel option looks like. Nevertheless, we’ll be sure to bring you any updates as they develop.
