On July 23, the WDW Annual Passholders Instagram account hinted at numerous new offerings coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, including a new magnet. Now, thanks to a clip shared on Instagram, we have a better idea of what to expect from the magnet that will be released at some point in the near future.
At the start of the video, a cover sits over a plate of food. An arm, reminiscent of Timon’s, appears and removes the cover. This all but confirms that the new magnet will be inspired by “The Lion King.”
The removal of the cover reveals a pile of grubs and other bugs. They all slither away revealing a plate that reads, “New Passholder Magnet Coming Soon!” The words are then replaced by Mickey’s head inside of the Annual Passholder logo. Mickey winks. A release date for the new magnet has not been announced.

Thousands of guests tearfully applauded as the final riders entered Space Mountain before the permanent closure of the opening day Tokyo Disneyland attraction.
Space Mountain Closure
Space Mountain opened on April 15, 1983, coinciding with the opening of Tokyo Disneyland. Now, the attraction has permanently closed to make way for a new Space Mountain that will open in 2027.
In the late hours of the evening, guests huddled around the entrance of the attraction, as the final riders joined the queue and rode the speed ramp to Space Mountain. Guests tearfully applauded as the opening day attraction was officially closed for the final time.
A new version of Space Mountain has been in the works for a couple of years now, as the original concept art for the attraction was released near the end of 2022. Site clearing began in the fall of 2022, shortly after the concept art was revealed. A groundbreaking ceremony took place in May 2023.
The new attraction will cost Oriental Land Co. approximately ¥56 billion ($437 million). The Space Mountain name and theme will be retained. Coca-Cola will remain the sponsor of the attraction. The new Space Mountain building design seems to take inspiration from Tomorrowland at Shanghai Disneyland.
History of Space Mountain
In 1975, the original version of Space Mountain opened at Magic Kingdom. The attraction was an instant success. Due to its popularity, versions of the ride were built at Disney Parks around the world, including Disneyland Park, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland. Shanghai Disneyland never obtained Space Mountain. TRON Lightcycle Power Run was built instead.
Space Mountain has changed at various times at each park around the world. Some of the biggest changes came at Disneyland Paris where the attraction was originally called De la Terre à la Lune and inspired by “From the Earth to the Moon” by Jules Verne. Later, the attraction received a “Star Wars” Hyperspace Mountain overlay. That temporary overlay became permanent in 2017, but will likely be retired soon as the attraction converts back to the original Space Mountain.
Hyperspace Mountain has become a permanent fixture at Hong Kong Disneyland as well, and it has been added as a temporary overlay to the Disneyland version of the attraction from time to time. This year, the Disneyland version of Space Mountain received new projection mapping and projection effects.
Below, you can check out our video from the moment that the final guests boarded the speed ramp to ride Space Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland.

Before we get WAY too excited about this discovery, we did speak with a Cast Member who said that the Loaded Burnt End Fries will continue to be a limited offering and there are no guarantees it will be available. The dish will not appear on Mobile Order, so the only way to know if it is available is to walk inside and wait in line at the register. You will be able to see a placard if the fries are available that day.
Loaded Burnt End Fries
Of course we had to grab some of our beloved Loaded Burnt End Fries, you know, for science. Plus, we have to see if they are as good as we remember them!
Loaded Burnt End Fries
You can grab these Loaded Burnt End Fries for $12.99. They are seasoned French fries with burnt ends, macaroni & cheese, and beer-battered onion rings. Right out of the gate, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the dish is more visually appealing than before! Even before digging in we were drooling a bit, not gonna lie. It is a good portion of food and as you can see, there is quite a bit going on in this dish.
Loaded Burnt End Fries
Now onto the taste! The mac & cheese was delicious and creamy. We love this mac & cheese and it was great in this dish too. We thought the green onions added a great freshness to the dish, plus they look pretty on top. The fries have LOTS of seasoning on them and it actually works really well. We would say the seasoning tastes like seasoning salt with paprika in it. However, the onion rings were a bit on the greasy side and some of ours were fried together which made for a mega onion ring.
We have been waiting for this moment!
Last but not least, the burnt ends. We thought the burnt ends tasted even better than before. The meat was chewy with a bit of tenderness, and was rich and full of great BBQ flavor. We had a couple of pieces that were too crunchy to eat and a few that were more fatty, but overall, we thought the burnt ends were even better this time. This dish is definitely on the heavier side so plan accordingly. It may not be the best option for lunch in the middle of the day when you have a whole park day ahead of you. But, it is definitely tasty!
Regal Eagle Smokehouse
As a reminder, you may not be able to get your hands on the Loaded Burnt End Fries all the time. They will only be a limited offering, but if you do see them while you are at Regal Eagle Smokehouse, we think you are in for a real treat. If you are looking for even more of the best food in Disney World, we’ve got you covered. We have a whole video dedicated to the BEST food in Disney World:

We’ll have to admit that it’s making us even more impatient having to wait a little longer for the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival to begin this year (soon, SO soon, though). We’re also curious as to how CommuniCore Hall and Plaza will be used during the festival (as Disney did previously say these were intended as festival spaces). We also NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE FOOD. Seriously, we are ready to see some menus! However, we just noticed a clue that more EPCOT Food & Wine Festival news could be coming soon!
This year’s EPCOT Food and Wine Festival runs from August 29th through November 23rd, 2024. So far, we still don’t have any menus for the festival, nor do we have any information that food demonstrations and seminars might return (something we haven’t seen since 2019 at the festival).
Mexico Booth Spread from 2023
But we did notice that Disney DID recently update its EPCOT Food & Wine Festival website, suggesting we’ll be getting some big news about the festival soon. We did click on a link to see the festival marketplaces (aka the food booths), but that information has not been added yet. Could it be added soon, though?
There’s also some information about the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, but we’ve already seen a full lineup of the concerts that will be coming to this year’s festival. The website also mentions the return of Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit for the Halloween season, as well as Emile’s Frontage Montage (the cheese crawl), and Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak (the scavenger hunt).
Remy’s Hide & Squeak 2023
There will be merchandise — OF COURSE, including collections with the festival logo, Remy, and Mickey! Another NEW thing we noticed, though, is what the Mini Festival Gift Cards will look like this year. These little gift cards can be worn on the wrist for easy paying at food booths.
That’s really all that’s been added to the page, but the update HAS to be Disney getting ready to release more details about this year’s festival (and AGAIN, we need to see those food booth menus!). We’ll be keeping an eye out for ANYTHING Disney happens to announce or reveal about this year’s festival, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
