Sidewalk Demolished For New Haunted Mansion Gift Shop at Disneyland

The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland has been closed for almost six months for construction of an expanded grounds. We’ve mostly seen construction in the outdoor queue but there are now more signs of work on the ride’s new gift shop.

People walk and gather near teal construction barriers in a park setting with large trees and partially visible buildings in the background.

The original outdoor queue was demolished soon after the attraction closed. It still does not resemble a queue, but more structures are taking shape. Near the end of the construction walls in New Orleans Square is a gray concrete wall with a railing on top.

When we visited on Thursday, we saw dozens of crew members working right in front of the mansion. The facade is not expected to see any changes but parts of it are sometimes wrapped in plastic to keep it safe from damage.

Construction workers in orange vests perform repairs behind a large temporary wall in a park area near a churro stand and green gazebo, with surrounding trees and buildings in the background.

The crew members were on and around the ramp to the right of the mansion’s entrance.

Construction workers in safety vests and helmets are working outside a two-story building surrounded by trees. Scaffolding and construction materials are visible, and a construction fence encloses the area.

More crew members were working near the brick walls and columns that recently went up.

Construction workers in safety vests operate heavy machinery and perform tasks among rubble in front of a large, light-colored building with green shutters. Construction materials are scattered around the site.

The pavement has been completely torn up in front of the mausoleums that act as the ride’s exit. This is where the new carriage house gift shop will go.

Construction workers wearing helmets and safety vests work among piles of rubble in front of a partially demolished building, with construction equipment like a Bobcat and an air compressor on site.

The front of one mausoleum has also been removed. This structure may ultimately be completely demolished. Compare to the concept art of the gift shop below.

The Haunted Mansion will reopen with its holiday overlay this fall. When it does, it will use a virtual queue while construction continues on the exterior. It’s rumored that there will be some changes to the regular Haunted Mansion ride when it returns in 2025.
