In a post on the Aerosmith official website, the group put out a statement announcing the news, citing lead singer Steven Tyler’s vocal injury as the primary reason for the band’s touring retirement. In the post, gratitude is expressed towards fans of the group for supporting them for over 50 years, and ticket refund information is provided.

“Peace Out: The Farewell Tour” was already set to be the final tour of the band’s career. Three shows were played in September 2023 when the rest of the scheduled dates had to be postponed due to Tyler’s vocal cord injury. New dates were announced in April 2024, before being canceled again this month.

The group rose to prominence in the Disney fan community with the opening of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 1999. In the attraction, guests board a “super-stretch” limousine and take a high speed journey through Hollywood to join the band backstage at one of their concerts.

The attraction recently reopened after an almost six-month refurbishment. It was previously located at Walt Disney Studios Park in the Disneyland Paris resort before being closed in 2019 for Avengers Assemble: Flight Force.

The coaster’s future has been called into question on several occasions between controversies surrounding the band. It underwent a lengthy refurbishment in 2023, during which time rumors were circulated that the attraction would be rethemed to Queen. These were fueled by 2022 assault accusations against Steven Tyler. When it reopened, the signed Aerosmith poster was missing, but the rest of the ride was unchanged.

Now, rumors are flying again in the wake of the retirement announcement.

The band’s retirement doesn’t necessarily herald a change for the attraction. The opposite could be true as well: the Aerosmith theming may stay in tribute to the band. Or it simply may have no effect on the future of the ride.
