Disney Parks Blog shared a behind-the-scenes look at this year’s gingerbread display in the Haunted Mansion Holiday.

A dimly lit room with a long table set for a meal, featuring various colorful figures and decorations, including a Christmas tree and elaborate chandelier. An eerie blue light streams through a window.

Each year, the Haunted Mansion Holiday features a new gingerbread display on the mansion’s ballroom table. Halloween Town’s mad scientist, Dr. Finkelstein, inspired this year’s Frankensteinian creation: a giant gingerbread zombie named Lil’ Franky. The zombie is on an operating table, with a series of claws trying on his different heads.

The gingerbread creation was brought to life by the Disneyland Resort culinary teams, technology teams, Disneyland Live entertainment, and the Disneyland Bakery.

Workers in safety gear and uniforms assemble a large gingerbread-themed sculpture, detailing and securing various candy and biscuit-like elements.

Cast and crew spent over 240 hours creating this display. 150 hours were spent just building and programming the animation and lighting. The 5-foot-tall, 6-foot-wide display is made of the following:

  • 60 Pounds of Gingerbread
  • 50 Pounds of Powdered Sugar
  • 10 Pounds of Egg Whites
  • 30 Pounds of Rolled Fondant
  • 5 Pounds of Crystal Sugar
  • 10 Pounds of Chocolate
  • 2 Hidden Mickeys
