BREAKING: State of Emergency Declared for Disney World Area Ahead of Potential Hurricane

A tropical storm system projected to strengthen and move up the Gulf of Mexico could bring severe weather to Disney World.

This tropical wave is expected to develop over the weekend.

Florida’s governor has issued a state of emergency for much of the Florida peninsula, including the counties of Orange and Osceola, where Disney World is located.

The state of emergency activates the state’s emergency management system to help mitigate storm damage and to issue evacuation orders, if needed. Governor Ron DeSantis’ emergency order says the storm could cause flooding, power outages, and affect critical infrastructure in the state including roads and bridges.

The National Hurricane Center’s latest models for this storm predict that it could move very slowly and bring heavy rainfall to the state for several days, starting this weekend and lasting into early next week.
