We’re about a year away from the grand opening of Universal Orlando’s third park, Epic Universe.
We’ve learned just about everything about the new park’s lands, including details about How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk, Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic. We also have a lot of details about the first land visitors will see when they step into the new park, Celestial Park. However, we now have more details about a nighttime show coming to Celestial Park — and it sounds amazing.
Director of Universal Creative, Catherynne Jean recently spoke about the nighttime show coming to Celestial Park. So the idea of Celestial Park is actually stellar, but also includes elements of Greek mythology. So the concept is that by day, Apollo rules the park, but at night, the goddess Luna takes over and is in charge of the “luminescense of the night.” So the two have an exchange when day becomes night. Okay, y’all, this already sounds SO COOL.
So there will be a ceremony with “beautiful music” that will slowly brighten the lights in the park, growing “with the swells of the music until we have a burst of light,” followed by a “dance of light” throughout everything, including the foliage, the buildings, etc.
Once the ceremony is complete, Celestial Park will have its lighting ready for the night. Jean mentioned that the dance of lights won’t continue, but that there will still be these “beautiful lights” illuminating the park.
Celestial Park will also include a racing coaster called Stardust Racers that will not have ANY of its own lighting at night, although the trains will include onboard audio and lights, which should create the effect that the ride vehicles are shooting through the night sky like comets.
Epic Universe is set to open in 2025, and we’ll be keeping an eye out for a more specific opening timeline and date, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
