Have you tried Disney World’s new Lightning Lane system?
Gone are the old ways of Genie+, and now we instead have Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass to help us skip the long waits in the park. These paid systems can save you time during your park day, IF you know how to use them efficiently. That’s why we’re teaching you about one of our Lightning Lane tricks!
During the first week of using Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World, we happened upon a neat little trick. When visiting EPCOT, we had pre-purchased a Single Pass to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, but then we also decided to join the virtual queue the morning of our visit.
Since we had been hotel guests that day, we got a really great return time for our Lightning Lane Single Pass of 9AM-10AM. But then, when we joined the virtual queue, we were blessed AGAIN with a very early boarding group. Our boarding group was called first thing in the morning, so we were able to ride Guardians TWICE in a row by using the standby and Lightning Lane entrances back to back.
You have to get a little lucky in order to use this hack (you don’t really have much control over what boarding group number you get and you may or may not be able to modify your Lightning Lane to fit that return time) but it was convenient! If you have a virtual queue and a Lightning Lane at different times of the day, you’ll have to backtrack across the park to get back to the ride.
So what about in Magic Kingdom? Does this apply there as well? Yes! You can use the same system to try and book TRON Lightcycle / Run twice in a day and ride back-to-back, but you’ll want to change things up a bit for the virtual queue at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
If you want to use this hack for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you’ll be booking a return time with Lightning Lane Multi Pass instead of Lightning Lane Single Pass. Keep in mind that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a Tier 1 attraction, so when you make your Multi Pass selections either 3 or 7 days in advance (depending on whether or not you’re staying on Disney World property), you’ll only be able to select one from the following group, with the rest coming from the remaining Magic Kingdom attractions list:
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Jungle Cruise
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Space Mountain
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
After you’ve chosen one Tier 1 attraction and two Tier 2 attractions to book, you’ll have your Lightning Lanes ready to go for your park day. On the morning of your park day, you can attempt to join the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure virtual queue starting at 7AM. If you’re lucky, your boarding group return time may coincide with your previously-booked Lightning Lane.
However, even if you’re not lucky like that, we’ve got a tip for you! Throughout the day, we’ve often seen new times become available for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. So if your Lightning Lane and virtual queue don’t line up, you can attempt to modify your Lightning Lane to better fit that virtual queue return window. Perfect!
So there you go — that’s how you can do some of Disney World’s most popular rides twice in a row! Stay tuned to DFB for more tips and tricks on how to conquer the parks.
