We’re not the only ones who (may or may not) have believed something about Disney World that wasn’t quite true, right?
We’re talking about those “tall tales” like Walt Disney being frozen and buried under Cinderella Castle or that Cinderella Castle can come apart for hurricanes. These kinds of “lies” keep getting circulated and we thought it was high time to break down some of the lies about Magic Kingdom that you thought were true! Let’s dive right in!
You HAVE to Watch the Fireworks
First up, let’s talk about the fireworks. Are they spectacular? Yes. Absolutely so. Seriously, Disney knows how to put on a show. But in case you didn’t know, you don’t have to watch them every single time.
If you’ve seen them once (or a dozen times), you might want to consider skipping them to take advantage of the shorter ride wait times. So, while everyone else is “oohing” and “ahhing” at the sky, you could be enjoying Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with hardly any wait.
Again, the fireworks are a must-see at least once, but after that, it’s all fair game.
Wait Times Are ALWAYS Accurate and All Rides Have Super Long Lines
Okay, so wait times. You know, those lovely numbers flashing at the entrance of each ride? Well, we find that they’re more like rough estimates than the absolute truth.
We’ve definitely had times where a posted 60-minute wait turned into just 30 minutes. Plus, if you play it smart by hitting up rides first thing in the morning (rope drop), late at night, or during parades and fireworks, you can find the lines are way more manageable.
So, don’t let those big numbers scare you away because you’ll tend to find that they’re more flexible than they seem.
All the Quick Service Food Here is Bad
Now, let’s address the food at Magic Kingdom. Sometimes the Quick Service (QS) dining here gets a bad rap, but just know that not all QS spots at Magic Kingdom are created equal.
Sure, some options might not hit the spot, but places like Columbia Harbour House and Casey’s Corner serve up some pretty tasty bites. And don’t even get us started on a Dole Whip from Aloha Isle!
So, give those QS spots another shot next time you’re in Magic Kingdom. You might just find a new favorite snack or meal.
Cinderella Castle is Made of Stone
You may not believe us when we say that Cinderella Castle, the iconic heart of Magic Kingdom, is NOT made of stone. Mind blown yet? It’s actually made of fiberglass.
You heard us right. That glittering, towering, majestic castle is lighter than it looks. Disney’s Imagineers chose fiberglass for its durability and flexibility, which is perfect for ensuring the castle can withstand the test of time.
So, while it may look like it’s straight out of an ancient fairytale, it’s a modern marvel of engineering.
Magic Kingdom is Just for Kids
Last but not least, let’s set the record straight. Magic Kingdom isn’t just for kids. While it’s definitely family-focused, there are plenty of attractions that adults can enjoy, too.
Rides like TRON Lightcycle / Run, Haunted Mansion, and even the Astro Orbiter offer thrills that might be a bit intense for the little ones.
Also, don’t forget about the nostalgic joy of reliving your childhood on rides like Peter Pan’s Flight or Pirates of the Caribbean. At the end of the day, Magic Kingdom is a playground for all ages, so embrace it and dive into the fun!
Those were just a few of the lies about Magic Kingdom that you thought were true, and we’d love to hear more from you! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
