Peter Pan’s Flight reopened today, August 16, at Magic Kingdom with an update: the Never Land Tribe scene has been entirely changed.
Never Land Tribe Scene on Peter Pan’s Flight
The Walt Disney World webpage for the attraction was updated in the evening on August 15 that the ride would reopen today, sooner than anticipated, following the completion of its refurbishment. It was previously scheduled to reopen on August 21. The ride has been closed since July 8.
The new scene depicts Tiger Lilly walking in a circle with another, older member of her tribe.
A trio of tribe members sit around a large drum to her right. Instead of two tipis behind them, there are now three, with designs featuring a turtle, the Second Star to the Right where Never Land resides, and a paw print.
Tiger Lily and the older woman appear to be on a turntable, moving around in a circle.
The previous Never Land Tribe scene featured Tiger Lily and fellow members of her tribe sitting around their campfire, with the chief having his arms crossed as other members play drums around them.
It was previously rumored that the attraction would eventually receive cultural sensitivity updates. The Never Land mural outside of the attraction where Peter Pan normally meets guests got an update in 2022, replacing references to an “Indian Camp” with the “Never Land Tribe.”
