New Details Revealed About Epic Universe’s Celestial Park Story, Nighttime Show, and More

In a recent interview on the Discover Universal podcast, Universal Creative revealed new details about the story and nighttime light show of Celestial Park, the central land of Epic Universe.

Celestial Park Details

Epic Universe entrance concept art

JC Cloward, assistant director, and Catherynne Jean, director of creative, appeared on the podcast to talk about Celestial Park. Jean described Celestial Park as a “world between worlds” powered by the Chronos machine, which has “mysterious origins.”

The Chronos draws power from the universe to sustain the enchantment of vitality of Celestial Park and open the portals to Epic Universe’s other worlds. Guests will enter Epic Universe below the Chronos, as seen in the concept art above.

Celestial Park entrance concept art

Cloward adds that Celestial Park is the “connective tissue” of the worlds and the Chronos is a “whirling, moving machine.” A vendor in Italy is creating the device and Cloward said they recently saw a test video of it spinning. They also refer to the machine as a “Celestial Cypher.”

Though we don’t know who built the Chronos, we do know it’s very old. People have come to live in Celestial Park and maintain the device, as well as the land. These residents are known as “Celestians.” They figured out how to build the park’s other portals.

Cloward described the process of stepping from Celestial Park into one of the IP-based lands as an “experience.” The portals will start with Celestial Park theming but guests will then pass plasma screens that make them feel like they are walking through swirling nebula gas.

“I feel, and many of us feel, it will revolutionize theme parks moving forward,” Cloward said of Epic Universe and Celestial Park. He added, “Putting the park aspect back into theme parks was more than just a statement; it was a driving force that shaped the development of Celestial Park.”

Celestial Park overlook

Celestial Park will have 26 gardens, each with individual theming and different plants. Some of the gardens are connected story-wise to restaurants or attractions.

“They are more for the aesthetic beauty of relaxation and appreciating nature,” Jean said.

Regarding the transition from day to night, Jean said they have a “big transformation planned.” The story behind the show is that Apollo, the god of the sun, takes care of the radiance of the day. At dusk, he passes the baton to Luna, the goddess of the moon, who is in charge of the luminescence of the night. A ceremony with “beautiful” music will slowly bring the lights up, growing with the swells of the music until a burst of light, followed by a “dance of light throughout everything — the plants, the trees, the buildings.”

“It’s like a fireworks of light,” Jean said.

After the ceremony is complete, the land is fully lit for the evening.

Celestial Park will have a completely custom soundtrack — the most custom music Universal has ever commissioned.

Concept art of Starfall Racers

Cloward added how Stardust Racers (formerly Starfall Racers) will also change at night. The dueling coaster is one of Universal’s largest ever. And they’ve chosen to not light the coaster track at night. This means the intricate pulsing lights on the coaster trains will have a chance to shine, making them look more like comets shooting through the night sky.

Constellation Carousel concept art

Another Celestial Park attraction is Constellation Carousel, but Cloward said he doesn’t like to call the ride a carousel. He says it’s “so much more” than a carousel. The ride system consists of four ride tables. There’s one large surface with three smaller tables inside. All of them can function and rotate independently.

Each ride vehicle also has its own independent pitch and yaw so they can turn, rotate, and go up or down. They can go up to six feet in the air. Different constellations, like Ursa Major / Big Dipper, inspired the ride vehicles. The animal vehicles include lions, dragons, and peacocks. Cloward and Jean predict guests will pick their favorites and want to come back to ride different ones.

Constellation Carousel will have eight different music tracks so guests waiting in the queue probably won’t hear the same program more than twice. Jean said it’s “like a bejeweled music box.”

The last Celestial Park attraction is Astronomica, a splash pad with a compass rose design. It can act as its own set of fountains but can also be programmed to link with “maybe one of the major fountain shows” (Jean was careful not to say it definitely would link to other shows). It also has its own soundtrack, which the fountain jets interact with.

The main show lagoon is called the Cosmos. The water jets can shoot higher than the Universal Helios Grand Hotel if they want but “we’re gonna probably try not to because we know how the winds get in Florida and if we did that, we would drench everyone in the park.”

Atlantic restaurant concept art

Atlantic is the land’s fine dining restaurant, meant to resemble a giant Victorian aquarium. The outside is all glass. Inside, mechanical fish (or “biomechanical lanterns,” Jean says) swim across the ceiling. So even people outside can look in and see fish moving through the aquarium. Real cast bronze sculptures also decorate Atlantic.

Another restaurant is Oak and Star, a traveler’s/crossroads BBQ restaurant. It’s decorated with murals of “little critters” and stained glass panels.

Blue Dragon concept art

The last restaurant is The Blue Dragon, a pan-Asian restaurant. It’s always nighttime inside Blue Dragon, which resembles a market with a patio and bar. Lanterns move up and down in the space.

REVIEW: Stuffed Pancake Sandwich, Totchos, Guava Danish, and More Disney’s Animal Kingdom Breakfast Options

Some of the quick breakfast options of Disney’s Animal Kingdom have moved around and changed, so we decided to review them on a recent morning visit to the park.

A stuffed pancake sandwich can be found at Trek Snacks and Drinkwallah Snacks. Breakfast totchos and an egg and bacon croissant sandwich are at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery. A sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit is at Harambe Fruit Market and Tamu Tamu Refreshments. Tamu Tamu also has a guava and cream cheese Danish.

Trek Snacks & Drinkwallah Snacks

A sign displays a stuffed pancake sandwich with sausage, guava paste, egg, and cheese for $8.99. Text indicates it is available at Trek Snacks. Note at the bottom says "Applicable sales tax not included.

Stuffed Pancake Sandwich – $8.99

with sausage, guava paste, egg, and cheese

A piece of flatbread sits on a brown napkin atop a wooden railing near a body of water, with a bridge and foliage visible in the background.

This is probably one of the weirdest things we’ve ever eaten for breakfast. It contains egg, sausage, and a thin layer of guava paste inside of what they claim is a pancake.

It’s not a good pancake by any stretch. It’s not sweet, and it feels more like cornbread, because it’s dense and not fluffy.

A cake with a slightly browned top is sliced open, revealing a dense, layered interior with visible fillings on a piece of patterned wax paper outdoors.

The guava paste adds a touch of flavor, but we would have liked more of it to make the sandwich sweeter.

This is nowhere near as good as the pancake breakfast sandwiches we’ve had from McDonald’s or Wawa. In fact, it might be the worst breakfast food at Walt Disney World.

Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery

A hand holds a KUSAFIRI Coffee Shop and Bakery menu featuring items such as Egg and Bacon Croissant Sandwich, Breakfast Tachos, pastries, desserts, beverages, and specialty coffee drinks.

In addition to breakfast totchos and the egg and bacon croissant sandwich, Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery also offers Joffrey’s coffee and pastries like the colossal cinnamon roll.

A table with a cold beverage in a plastic cup, a croissant topped with scrambled eggs, caramelized onions, and hash browns, and another container with egg, hash browns, and crumbled bacon.

Breakfast Totchos – $10.99

Potato Barrels, Scrambled Eggs, Nacho Cheese Sauce, Cheese Curds, and Crumbled Bacon

A rectangular paper container holds loaded tater tots topped with melted cheese, diced bacon, chopped chives, and crumbled cheese curds, placed on an outdoor table with greenery in the background.

The totchos were fine but not great. The amount of egg, bacon, and cheese sauce was plenty. The flavorless cheese curds were a weird choice. They were somewhat cold — not melted or creamy like you might expect. Their texture didn’t go well with the rest of the dish.

A tray of scrambled eggs topped with bacon and cheese, served on a patterned surface with leafy greenery in the background.

We would suggest they add the roasted peppers from the sandwich instead of cheese curds. That would actually make this a very good dish. It’s a decent choice if you’re looking for something without a biscuit or croissant, but it’s mostly mediocre.

Egg and Bacon Croissant Sandwich – $8.99

Croissant with a Cheese Omelet, Crispy Bacon, and Tomato-Pepper Relish served with Potato Barrels

A cardboard tray contains crispy tater tots and a croissant sandwich topped with eggs and a chunky tomato sauce. Green foliage is visible in the background.

This was a pleasant surprise. Obviously, if you don’t like peppers or onions, this isn’t something you’ll go for. But it’s a nice breakfast option for people who do like those items.

There was a lot of bacon, a lot of egg, and a huge amount of pepper relish. That did create a problem because it was served open-face on a rather small croissant. We wish they had used a larger pastry and spread things out so it was more of a sandwich and easier to eat.

The tots on the side made this a rather filling breakfast. For $8.99, this is good value. We highly recommend it and would probably rank it the best of Animal Kingdom’s breakfast offerings.

Rating out of 7: 6

Tamu Tamu Refreshments

People stand in line at a rustic building with a sign for “Kilimanjaro Safaris” and “Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.” A menu board for "Tamu Tamu" with food images is seen in the foreground.

In addition to the biscuit and Danish we’re reviewing, Tamu Tamu Refreshments offers the colossal Mickey cinnamon roll, honey-pistachio croissant, and chocolate twist for breakfast.

Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscuit – $6.99

A sandwich on foil featuring a sausage patty and an egg on a bun, with a background of green foliage.

This is your standard theme park breakfast sandwich. The biscuit was good. We liked the cheese because it seemed to be an actual slice instead of some fake plastic.

It’s a decent size, so it’s somewhat filling. We wish they offered a side dish like tater tots because that would make it a nicer meal. As is, it’s more of an on-the-go snack, but if you need something to eat while walking, this is an easy solution.

Rating out of 7: 4

Guava and Cream Cheese Danish – $4.49

A large glazed pastry with a white frosting drizzle, filled with custard and a red fruit center, sits on a white plate on an outdoor table with green plants in the background.

The guava and cream cheese Danish was a flavorful quick bite. The pastry was flaky and fresh. It’s not very filling, so we would suggest one of the sandwiches if you’re really hungry, but if you like guava, this is a great treat.

If you’re not sure if you like guava, this might be worth a try. The guava combined with the cream cheese is great and a good introduction to the guava flavor.

New Dragon Maleficent Ear Headband Now Available in Walt Disney World

A new ear headband featuring Maleficent in her dragon form has made its way to Magic Kingdom for the Halloween season.

We found these ears at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom.

Dragon Maleficent Ear Headband -$34.99

A hand holds a headband with green and black bat-themed ears, featuring a bat figure in the center, in a store setting.

This ear headband features Maleficent in her Dragon form, with her wings covering nearly the full width of the ears. Maleficent’s menacing eyes stare out, with her head and wings serving as the “bow” of the headband.

The pleather ears have glittery green flames on them. The ears are edged in a neon green material. The headband itself is black and the inside is lined with a purple velour, mimicking the colors of Maleficent herself.

You can pick up these ears next time you are in Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which is taking place on select nights from now until October 31.

The second announcement for Disney Adventure World is that a second new land will be joining the Lion King. World of Frozen will be coming to the park in 2026!

World of Frozen, a land themed to Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen” will open alongside the debut of the park’s new name, Disney Adventure World, in 2026.

Both of these new lands will be added to Disney Adventure World (currently Walt Disney Studios Park). In a model of the theme park showcased on Day 3 of the expo, you can see where these new lands will be.

Swamp Of The Undead Airboat Uncovered Ahead of Halloween Horror Nights 33

The airboat in the Swamp of the Undead scare zone at Universal Studios Florida has been uncovered ahead of the start of Halloween Horror Nights 33.

Swamp of the Undead Airboat

An old propeller engine surrounded by tall grass and assorted metal objects is partially covered by a metal cage, situated outdoors on a sunny day.

Swamp of the Undead is located in the Central Park area of Universal Studios Florida. The airboat was visible behind planters a few days ago. The planters are now gone, and the entire crashed airboat has been revealed in the brush.

An industrial fan and an old metal drum are placed near some overgrown foliage along a paved path, with a group of people walking on the right side under a sunny sky.

The airboat is green with a massive propeller on the back. Other props around it include barrels and gasoline cans. A sheet of metal sits directly behind the boat.

Art installation featuring a giant wire cage with a chair inside and a large green clawed hand sculpture reaching onto a platform surrounded by vegetation and trees.

There are two seats in the front of the purposefully weathered and stained airboat. A cage looks to have fallen off the airboat into the overgrown grass and plants.

The description of the Swamp of the Undead scare zone reads:

In backwaters Louisiana, you unwittingly wander onto private property, where you’re swamped by zombies borne from the bodies of other trespassers who were killed and dumped in a nearby bog.

Other scare zones at Halloween Horror Nights 33 include Duality of Fear, Demon Queens, Torture Faire, and Enter the Blumhouse. This year’s haunted houses are  Slaughter Sinema 2Goblin’s FeastMajor Sweets Candy FactoryThe Museum: Deadly ExhibitsMonstruos: The Monsters of Latin AmericaTriplets of TerrorA Quiet Place, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Insidious: The Further, and Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines. “Nightmare Fuel: Nocturnal Circus” will make its debut, while the Death Eaters will return in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.

More Drones Coming to Disney Parks, ‘Luminous: The Symphony of Us’ Designed to Receive Updates

Today, executive creative director of Disney Live Entertainment, Steve Davison, announced that more drones are coming to Disney Parks. He also stated that “Luminous: The Symphony of Us” was designed to be updated.

Future of Drone Shows and ‘Luminous: The Symphony of Us’

A vibrant display of luminous fireworks lights up the night sky over a body of water, with crowds of people watching from the shore. Bright explosions and trails of light create a festive atmosphere.

“Luminous: The Symphony of Us” could see changes in the future. This comes after Steve Davison announced that the EPCOT nighttime spectacular was designed to be updated.

Davison’s announcement came during the Magic After Dark—The Story of Disney’s Nighttime Spectaculars panel at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. While no updates for the show are currently planned, he stressed that the show could see developments in the future.

A nighttime sky display shows the words "Disney Dreams That Soar" formed by illuminated drones, with a lake and lit buildings visible below.

Davison went on to discuss the future of drone usage during Disney nighttime spectaculars, saying that guests should expect to see a lot more of them in the future.

Drones are already becoming integral to nighttime spectaculars at Disney Parks around the globe. The “Disney Dreams That Soar” drone show has been performed at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World since May 24. During their July 14 Bastille Day celebration, Disneyland Paris set a new Guinness World Records title for the “Largest aerial display of a fictional character formed by multirotors/drones.”

A new nighttime spectacular with drones has already been announced for Disney Adventure World in 2026.
