‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ Writers Reveal Scrapped Avengers Reunion Plans

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, two of the writers on Marvel Studios’ smash hit, “Deadpool and Wolverine,” have revealed that the film originally had a scene that was to feature all of the Avengers.

Bear in mind that this article contains spoilers for “Deadpool and Wolverine.”

Avengers Scene Removed from ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’

In an interview with IndieWire, Reese and Wernick state that the scene where Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) meets with Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) and asks to join the Avengers originally had two different variations. The first was to feature Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) alongside Hogan, denying Wilson entry into the Avengers due to his questionable “team player abilities.”

The scene would have been very similar to the one seen in the final film, just with the inclusion of Tony Stark. Reese and Wernick were unaware at that time of Marvel’s plans to bring back Downey as Doctor Doom in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday,” which could potentially serve as a reason why the cameo didn’t happen.

Watch Marvel Studios' The Avengers | Disney+

The writers then went on to reveal that an even earlier version of the scene had all of the Avengers in the room with Wade. They were to reject him, “and then he dressed all the Avengers down in a way only Deadpool could do.”

Jokes like Wade trying to pick up Thor’s hammer would have made their way into the scene as well, with Deadpool’s good friend, Peter (Rob Delaney), casually being able to pick up the hammer.

“Deadpool and Wolverine” has already broken many box office records, and is on its way to crossing $1 billion worldwide.

Two people dressed in Wolverine and Deadpool costumes stand and interact on an outdoor stage with scenic backdrops and trees in the background, bringing "Story Time with Deadpool" to life.

Storytime with Deadpool recently debuted at Disney California Adventure. Guests can find the character alongside Wolverine roaming around Avengers Campus and occasionally riding on a toy unicorn.

ALL The 2024 Magic Kingdom Halloween Treats at the Magic Kingdom — Reviewed and Rated

Halloween time has started and we reviewed all the new and returning 2024 Magic Kingdom Halloween treats for the season.

These items are available through October 31 during regular park hours and during the separately ticketed Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which also offers a host of exclusive treats.

2024 Magic Kingdom Halloween Treats

Main Street Bakery

WDW 2023 Halloween Magic Kingdom Main Street Bakery

*NEW* Minnie-shaped Cinnamon Roll – $7.49

Cinnamon Roll with green and purple icing and an orange bow

This didn’t taste particularly fresh and was overall a fairly unremarkable take on the standard cinnamon roll. We know there are cinnamon roll devotees out there, but we think there are Halloween treats that are going to be a lot better use of your money at Magic Kingdom.

A Minnie-shaped Cinnamon Roll was available last year, but it had orange frosting and sprinkle-covered ears.

Plaza Ice Cream Parlor

Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, with its red and white signage, showcases charming Halloween decor, including pumpkins on the roof. The building is adorned with orange fabric, and an American flag waves proudly in the background.

*NEW* Ice Cream Chocolate Cookie Sandwich – $7.49

Halloween cookies with M&M’s Ghoul’s Mix Chocolate Candies and your choice of ice cream

The cookie looks great and will get you in the mood for the season. Once you get past the appearance, it’s just a basic ice cream cookie sandwich with M&M’s. It’s still a nice treat, and the creamy ice cream and sweet cookie complement each other well. It’s big enough to split, but you will have to hunt down a knife since Plaza Ice Cream Parlor only has spoons.

The Plaza Restaurant

*NEW* Ghoulishly Gourmet Burger – $25

Two all-beef patties with pepper jack and Swiss cheese, candied bacon, balsamic-glazed mushrooms, onion ring, and truffle-buffalo aïoli served on a black bun

The burger looks intimidating. It’s pretty big, which it should be since it costs $25. It comes with fries and pickles on the side. We were a little scared of the black bun because we’d read what happened when Burger King had the black Halloween Burger a few years ago and did not want to experience the same after-effects as many of the diners there.

However, the burger was cooked perfectly, and the blend of cheeses and the aïoli was delightful. Some people may be put off the the burger’s appearance or price, but overall, it was a really good burger.

Rating out of 7: 6

*NEW* Halloween Turkey Club – $19

Turkey club with bacon on black sandwich bread

A plate with a sandwich made with dark bread, layered with lettuce, tomato, and meat, next to a serving of thick-cut French fries. A lime wedge and a glass of dark soda are partially visible in the background.

This is a pretty basic club sandwich that just happens to come on dark brown bread. There is nothing about this sandwich that is particularly creative or noteworthy. It’s cheaper than the burger, but the quality of the meal is also significantly worse.

Rating out of 7: 3.5

*NEW* Layered Pumpkin Cake – $10

Pumpkin Cake with cream cheese mousse

The flavor was sweet and the spice was a nice surprise. The cake looks great and is soft and moist, but it doesn’t hold its structure very well. It may have just felt a little too sweet to us because we’re not quite ready for pumpkin everything, but overall it was a pleasant new Halloween treat.

Rating out of 7: 5

*NEW* Graveyard Milkshake – $8.50

Chocolate milkshake with a dipped graveyard jelly doughnut, white chocolate tombstone, gummy candy, and a Haunted Mansion straw

The graveyard milkshake is interesting to look at. The straw pierces directly through the heart of the jelly doughnut so lifting the straw reveals a blood-like jelly coating. Beneath that donut is a chocolate shake that has some Snickers pieces and M&M’s mixed in. Somehow this wasn’t overly sweet, which was great. The donut didn’t add to the flavor but it did pack a visual impact. It also didn’t help that our donut wasn’t particularly fresh.

Rating out of 7: 5.5

Casey’s Corner

A Victorian-style building with the sign "Casey's Corner" featuring a baseball motif, adorned in Halloween decor with autumn-themed bunting and pumpkins. The yellow structure has red accents and Coca-Cola signage, perfectly blending spooky charm with seasonal festivity.

*NEW* Chipotle Barbecue Pork and Street Corn French Fries – $7.79

French fries topped with fire-roasted corn, queso fresco, and cilantro

A hand holds a tray of loaded fries topped with corn, crumbled cheese, and vibrant seasonings over a green grassy area.

The chipotle barbecue pork is the same on all of the dishes served at this location. However, we felt that the fries were best suited for the pork because they’re easy to eat with a fork.

Rating out of 7: 4.5

*NEW* Chipotle Barbecue Pork and Street Corn Mini Corn Dogs – $10.79

Mini corn dogs topped with fire-roasted corn, queso fresco, and cilantro

The topping was properly portioned, even if there wasn’t much else to report from this item. Be prepared to eat with a fork and knife.

Rating out of 7: 4

*NEW* Chipotle Barbeque Pork and Street Corn Hot Dog – $14.79 (Regular) $15.79 (Footlong)

All-beef hot dog with fire-roasted corn, queso fresco, and cilantro

This was very difficult to eat and not worth it. The pork doesn’t complement the all-beef hotdog at all. This was a mess.

Rating out of 7: 3

Churro Cart Near Cinderella Castle

*NEW* Worms ‘n Dirt Churro – $7.25

Churro rolled in cookies and cream dust and topped with marshmallow and sour gummy candy

A sign reads "Happy Halloween at Magic Kingdom" and features a photo of a churro rolled in cookies and cream dust, topped with marshmallow and sour gummy candy. The churro costs $7.25.

This churro is a disaster. It was stale, flavorless, and messy.  It was like eating cardboard if the cardboard industry figured out how to reduce the flavor of cardboard. The gummy worms are regular sour gummies and are by far the highlight of this otherwise inedible churro. Encourage your enemies to drop their hard-earned money on this. We threw our uneaten portion away, and the trash can spit it back out at us.

Aloha Isle

*NEW* DOLE Whip Mango and Chamoy Float – $7.29

DOLE Whip Mango, pineapple juice, chamoy, and chili-lime seasoning

A hand holds a plastic cup with layered yellow and brown beverage topped with whipped cream and a red spice, with a pond, plants, and architectural background in sunlight.

The flavor of the mango ice cream is great, but the chamoy didn’t work, particularly at the bottom of the float. This wasn’t the worst item, but it probably would have been better if the mango and pineapple juice were left on their own. If you love chamoy, you will definitely like this item more than us.

Rating out of 7: 4

The Friar’s Nook

*NEW* S’mores Cup – $5.99

Layers of graham cracker crumbles, chocolate ganache, chocolate popping candies, milk chocolate panna cotta, and marshmallow cream

Our marshmallow cream ghosts would not cooperate and kept falling down, but this is still a fun treat to look at. The snack is very simple, and it all works really well together. The chocolate pop rock candy doesn’t have the hardcore popping you remember as a child. It’s more subtle now and lingers longer making the treat very fun to eat. Overall, this was delicious.

Rating out of 7: 7

The Lunching Pad

lunching-pad-open-7-days-a-week-magic-kingdom-11092020-1132295

*NEW* Jalapeño Popper Dog – $14.79

All-beef hot dog topped with sriracha cream cheese, crispy onions, bacon, and hades relish

Despite the steep price, this hot dog is absolutely worth eating. The Sriracha cream cheese instantly elevates this from a normal hot dog to something special. The crispy onions add great texture and the relish provides a nice backdrop. It’s definitely spicy, but not in an overpowering way. Overall, we were very pleased with this item.

Rating out of 7: 7

Cheshire Cafe

WDW MK Cheshire Cafe stock

Queen of Hearts Slushy – $6.29

Frozen cherry slushy drizzled with black cherry purée and topped with whipped cream and a crown-shaped chocolate piece

This is a delightful and refreshing cold drink. The cherry flavor is wonderful and the whipped cream topping is a nice touch. The crown doesn’t taste very good, but it’s a nice decoration. Other than the crown, this is a flawless slushy.

Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies

*NEW* Candy Corn Soft-Serve Sundae – $7.79

Sweet corn soft-serve with butterscotch shell and candy corn

Our first instinct was to exclaim it was worthy of 14 ghosts, which you may notice is one higher than the 2001 horror film “13 Ghosts.” It’s that good. The hard shell and pieces of candy corn take this sundae to the next level. For those who hate candy corn, the pieces are easy to eat around. The flavor is more that of sweet corn than of the candy you remember. It’s smooth, sweet, and delicious. Easily the best Halloween treat available at Magic Kingdom.

Rating out of 7: 14!

*NEW* Sweet Corn Soft-Serve – $5.79

The plain soft-serve version of this sweet corn ice cream is phenomenal. It’s just as good as the sundae, but it doesn’t have any of the tasty toppings.

Rating out of 7: 6

Witches Cold Brew – $5.29

Joffrey’s Coffee Cold Brew with pumpkin-spiced foam and sprinkles

A hand with manicured nails holds a plastic cup of iced coffee topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings in an outdoor setting near water and greenery, reminiscent of the enchanting ambiance you'd find during Halloween at the Magic Kingdom.

The French vanilla coffee had a very bitter taste, and despite wanting to love this drink, we had to add creamer to stomach it. The candy pieces on top make it look festive, and the pumpkin spice foam was delicious, though too sparse. We tried to mix the foam to see if it would cut some of the bitterness, but no luck.

New Halloween Horror Nights 33 Hats, Bottle Carrier, and More

More new Halloween Horror Nights 33 merchandise has arrived at Universal Orlando Resort. We found a lanyard, bucket hat, beanie, car coasters, patches, and a bottle carrier in All Hallows Eve Boutique at Universal Islands of Adventure.

Lanyards – $16

A colorful lanyard with various themed designs is lying on a wooden surface under purple lighting. The word "universal" is visible among the designs.

The first of two available lanyards is mostly black and features skulls, vampire mouths, bats, eyeballs, and lightning bolts. “Universal Studios” and “Halloween Horror Nights ’24” are incorporated into the edgy design.

A colorful lanyard with Halloween-themed designs lies on a wooden surface with purple lighting.

The red lanyard features Lil’ Boo, as well as skulls, eyeballs, and some gooey organ-looking elements. “Halloween Horror Nights” is in block letters on the center of each strap.

Both lanyards have a black plastic enclosure and lobster claw clip.

Reversible Bucket Hat – $34

A colorful Halloween-themed bucket hat being held up against a textured wall background.

The bucket hat is black on both sides. One side features a pattern similar to the first lanyard with skulls, jack-o’-lanterns, and other Halloween iconography. The design is accentuated with neon pink and green backgrounds.

A Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights tag is attached. There are also five black rings hanging from the edge of the hat’s brim.

A black bucket hat with a "Halloween Horror Nights" logo embroidered on it is displayed under dim lighting.

When the bucket hat is reversed, the rings are still visible. This side is solid black with a Halloween Horror Nights patch on the front.

The patch and eyelets feature green embroidery. It reads “Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights ’24.” A red skull replaces the first “o” of “Horror.”

Beanie – $30

A black beanie with cat ears and a Halloween Horror Nights patch is displayed on a mannequin head in a store.

The beanie is also solid black. It has pointed top corners resembling cat ears. Two black rings are on the right “ear.”

A black beanie with a green "Halloween Horror Nights" patch displayed on a rack with other merchandise in the background.

The same embroidered Halloween Horror Nights patch that is found on the bucket hat is also found on the folded edge of the beanie.

Car Coasters – $10

A person holds a pack of two Halloween Horror Nights car coasters with colorful, spooky designs in a Halloween-themed store.

This set includes two car coasters, which are made to fit in car cupholders. One coaster features a skull with an exposed brain, a scary jack-o’-lantern, a green tentacle, spiders, and Lil’ Boo.

Lil’ Boo is front and center on the second coaster, with another tentacle and spider. “Halloween Horror Nights 2024” is in yellow and green lettering.

Person holding a packaged Halloween-themed car air freshener, featuring vibrant illustrations of a pumpkin, skull, and other spooky elements, priced at $7.00. Background shows Halloween decorations.

The back of the packaging features instructions for using the item:

Used to absorb condensation and spills to keep your cup holder clean.

Cleaning Instructions: If a coaster becomes stained, you can minimize discoloration by soaking the coaster in hot water with a mild liquid detergent for 60 minutes, rinse thoroughly and let air dry.

Patches – $15

A hand holds a pack labeled "Halloween Horror Nights 2024" featuring four spooky patches: a monster head, a mouth, a skeleton torso, and a logo. Vivid decorations are in the blurred background.

These five Halloween Horror Nights patches can be sewn on or peeled and stuck onto a bag, jacket, or other item.

Three patches featuring Halloween-themed designs: a blue skull with spikes and rainbow light, an eyeball with "Halloween Horror Nights" text, and an open mouth with sharp teeth.

One patch is a skull with a mohawk and lightning bolts shooting from its eyes. Another features an eyeball with “Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights” around it.

The smallest patch is a red pair of lips with blood-stained vampire teeth.

Close-up of a set of Halloween-themed patches, including a skeleton, an open mouth, and a "Halloween Horror Nights" logo. The label reads "Peel & Stick/Sew On Patch Set.

Another patch depicts a ribcage against a green background. “Halloween Horror Nights” borders the skeletal image. The last patch features the “Halloween Horror Nights ’24” logo.

Bottle Carrier – $16

A neon green drink holder with a Halloween Horror Nights design hangs from a strap. The design features a shark and vibrant text. A yellow object with lights appears in the background.

Last but not least is the bottle carrier. One side of the holder is green with a black patch. It features a blue skull with a mohawk and lightning bolts shooting out of its eye sockets. It also features the event name. An eyeball takes the place of the first “o” in “Horror.”

A bag with a Halloween Horror Nights design hangs on a hook, featuring vibrant artwork and a price tag. The background displays colorful, eclectic decor and glowing lights.

The other side of the carrier features the same design but is black instead of green.

A lanyard from Halloween Horror Nights '21 at Universal Studios, hanging on a colorful, star-adorned background.

The bottle carrier has a black and green strap. “Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights ’24” is printed on both sides in a typewriter-style font.

Halloween Horror Nights 33 runs select nights at Universal Studios Florida from August 30 through November 3. Tickets are available on the Universal Orlando website.

Fuzzball from ‘Captain EO’ Spotted in Trailer for ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’

The trailer for the Disney+ original series ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ has been released, and it appears that a character familiar to Disney Parks fans is going to be in the show.

Fuzzball from ‘Captain EO’ Joins the ‘Skeleton Crew’

A furry red creature with tiny horns is caged inside metal bars, lit by blue and purple lights. There is a glass container with tubes to the right of the cage.

A character who resembles Fuzzball, the flying cat-like sidekick in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1986 musical science-fiction film “Captain EO,” appears briefly in the trailer for the upcoming series.

While it is not confirmed, the character that appears in trailer looks nearly identical to the one seen in “Captain EO,” albeit as a digital recreation and not a physical puppet.

It would be a fitting tribute to include Fuzzball in the series, as George Lucas, creator of “Star Wars,” was executive producer of “Captain EO.”

Captain EO, wearing a futuristic outfit, stands confidently with a small animated creature perched on their shoulder.

“Captain EO” debuted at EPCOT in 1986. Disneyland Park, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland would later receive the show as well. The attraction was seen as a technological marvel at the time and is considered one of the first “4D’ films, as it synchronized in-theater effects to the action happening on screen.

D23 describes the film with the following synopsis:

Captain EO and his crew of mythical space creatures — Hooter, Fuzzball, the Geex, Major Domo, Minor Domo — discover a colorless planet where they are confronted by the Supreme Leader and her forces of darkness. Using the power of music, dance, and light, EO and his crew are able to turn the black-and-white land into a magical world of color and happiness.

“Captain EO” delighted guests in EPCOT until it closed in 1994, only to be brought back in 2010 as a tribute to the film’s star and pop icon, Michael Jackson, who passed away the year prior. The show closed permanently on December 6, 2015 at Walt Disney World.

The trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premiered last night during the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event. The series has been described as an Amblin-like coming-of-age adventure set in the New Republic era. It will debut on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere on December 3, 2024.

More Theming Added to Torture Faire, Cafe La Bamba for Halloween Horror Nights 33

As we get closer to the start of Halloween Horror Nights 33, more theming is appearing at Universal Studios Florida.

Torture Faire Scare Zone

A blue and white striped booth with a sign reading "Ye olde Torture Goods" stands in front of the arcade, perfectly blending into the Torture Faire theming. A person is sitting on a nearby bench.

Since our last HHN construction update, blue and white-striped tarps have been added to the wooden booth outside the Palace Theater Arcade. The booth features a sign that reads, “Ye Olde Torture Goods.”

Outdoor stage with a medieval-themed backdrop and sign reading “Torture Faire.” The stage includes stone-like structures and wooden elements, with added theming to enhance the experience. Small vendor booths are visible in the background.

Torture Faire is located in the park’s New York section. A large stage is in front of Battery Park. It’s adorned with a “Ye Olde Torture Faire” banner and iron maiden. Newly added is a banner featuring two figures, or one figure doubled.

A medieval torture-themed stage set, dubbed the Torture Faire, features an iron maiden prop and wooden stocks, positioned outdoors with thematic buildings and a cloudy sky in the background.

The Torture Faire description reads:

Come one, come all, to the renaissance faire with the devious theme of medieval torture. Brave the gloriously gory homemade torture devices ‘til you’re put out of your misery.

In addition to Torture Faire, scare zones for this year’s event include Swamp of the UndeadDuality of Fear, and Demon Queens.

Cafe La Bamba Food Booth

An outdoor market stall with a sign reading "El Mercado De Los Monstros" next to a beverages and cocktails stand, both under green awnings. The scene is sunny with stone flooring and a potted plant.

Cafe La Bamba has new decorations for their annual Halloween Horror Nights food booth. The bar has been decorated with a marquee reading “El Mercado De Los Monstros.” The last three words are written in red liquid — blood?

Pig heads wrapped in nets hang from lanterns around the bar. More meats hang inside. Rows of white candles sit above the windows on one side of the building.
