If you can believe it, we just wrapped up almost 50 announcements during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at the Honda Center during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event for 2024. And these aren’t just blue sky announcements for some time, somewhere down the road. No, these are things we’re building right now, and for many, you’ll start to see them come to life over the next five years. The sky’s the limit, and we’re only just getting started. And Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro said it best:

“At Disney Experiences, Imagineers dream, create, design and build these stories into real places. And we have Imagineers in place right now all around the world because everything we’re going to share with you is in active development. Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving. I just want to be clear about this: We are doing everything you’ve heard here tonight.”

SETTING SAIL FROM 2027 – 2031 – The Disney Cruise Line fleet is expanding, bringing the total number of ships docked around the world to 13. Plus, new details about the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny revealed.

NEW MARVEL SEASON PREMIERES NEXT WEEK — Disney Animation, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel are coming to Fortnite, and soon! Play an all-new season featuring Doctor Doom starting next week, with so much more to come.

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS 2319 2025 — It’s laughter they’re after when Sulley, Mike, and the rest of the crew from Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” move into Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and let humans inside the factory for the first time.

ZOOMING TO CONSTRUCTION IN 2025 – Start your engines, fan favorite stories and characters from Pixar’s “Cars” race into Magic Kingdom Park with two new attractions and fun for the whole family.

SOMETHING WICKED BEGINS CONSTRUCTION SOON — This is no happily ever after. Get ready to see a darker side of your favorite fairytales when the Villains cast a spell over Magic Kingdom.

SPROUTING TO LIFE IN 2027 — Lions, and tigers, and Indiana Jones, and the Madrigal family – oh my! Tropical Americas will come to Disney’s Animal Kingdom featuring everyone’s favorite archeologist and the magical casita from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Oscar-winning film “Encanto.”

EXPLORE MORE OF PANDORA – Sivako! Announced for Disney California Adventure, travel to a whole new corner of Pandora, inspired by “Avatar: The Way of Water” and future Avatar films.

DEBUTING IN 2025 — Stop by for a visit when “Walt Disney: A Magical Life” begins playing at the Main Street Opera House at Disneyland. After its initial debut, the show will then play in rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.”

ASSEMBLING SOON — Ready to save the world and galaxy? Well, suit up, because new Avengers experiences are coming to Shanghai Disneyland Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland. At Disney California Adventure, Avengers Campus will double in size with the addition of two new attractions – Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.

IT IS TIME — Journey with Simba from cub to King in the first-ever ride-through attraction themed to the classic Walt Disney Animation Studios film “The Lion King.”

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS 2026 — Seize your moment! Travel to the Land of the Dead with Miguel and his skeletal family from Pixar’s “Coco” in this all-new attraction coming to Disney California Adventure.

OPENING NOVEMBER 15, 2024 — Blue skies and sunshine up ahead! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure inspired by Disney Animation’s “The Princess and the Frog,” at Disneyland opens at the start of this holiday season.

COMING 2025 — Relax with friends and family at two themed lounges coming to Disney World inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean and Spaceship Earth. Cheers!

RACING INTO 2025 — Explore the past, present, and future of automation with a newly-rethemed Test Track presented by Chevrolet. Buckle up, it might get bumpy!

JUMP TO LIGHTSPEED IN 2026 — Mando and Grogu have a new adventure on the horizon coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Join the Mandalorian and his youngling on brand-new adventures coming to Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run in celebration of the new Star Wars film “The Mandalorian and Grogu” coming to theaters in 2026.

DEFROSTING IN 2026 — Queens Anna and Elsa, Olaf, and everyone else in Arendelle will welcome visitors to the latest land inspired by the beloved Disney Animation film. This new location is sure to melt your heart

ARRIVING ON MAIN STREET, U.S.A. IN 2025 — When the sun sets in the Magic Kingdom, a new parade will waltz down Main Street! Get ready to witness “Disney Starlight.” Disney parks around the world also have new spectaculars on the horizon.

Moments ago, fans attending the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, along with more than 1.2 M concurrent players around the world watching live in Fortnite, were treated to all the latest reveals and first looks at new Disney content coming to Fortnite this year. Disney leaders from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Lucasfilm, and Marvel Studios also shared their vision for what’s possible in the future entertainment universe being created by Epic Games in collaboration with Disney. 

Imagine a place where all your favorite Disney characters and worlds converge in one connected universe — where you can watch, play, and even create your own adventures. Earlier this year, Disney announced a new collaboration with Epic Games, the creators of Fortnite, to build all-new games and entertainment universe. 

While this new experience is still a few years away, during the showcase, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro invited four of the world’s best storytellers to join him on stage and share their excitement at bringing their creativity to this new storytelling medium. 

Their remarks were live-streamed to Fortnite in an immersive experience created exclusively for the showcase – the Disney Horizons Live from D23 island. Made using Epic’s Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), this interactive social watch party enabled players to engage with the showcase through cheers, mini-games, and spectacular visual effects. 

The message for fans and players alike – Disney is all in on this new universe. 

First up, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee shared her team’s excitement at the potential for this collaboration, along with a delightfully vile sneak peek for fans of Disney Villains. Later this Fall, Maleficent, Cruella de Vil and Captain Hook will become the first Disney Animation characters to join Fortnite. 

Innovation and pushing the limits of creativity and imagination are at the heart of what has made Pixar beloved around the world, and for Pete Docter, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, this new collaboration with Epic will give his team the opportunity to experiment with original ideas in new formats.

Pete also shared a glimpse at upcoming content launching later this Fall in Fortnite – the first from Pixar – with The Incredibles. 

Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni shared a sneak peek at new Star Wars characters and items coming to Fortnite – IG-11, Moff Gideon and all-new Grogu dynamic Back Bling arrive… next week!

From films to gaming, fans of Marvel will recall the very first entertainment gameplay crossover ever in Fortnite – the addition of the Infinity Gauntlet from “Avengers: Infinity War” in 2018.

Today’s crossover event started inside Fortnite with a thrilling in-game conclusion to the current season of Battle Royale, where the power of Pandora’s Box re-emerged as the catalyst for an on-stage world premiere of a new cinematic and gameplay trailer revealing the origins of a new upcoming Marvel-themed season, presented on-stage at D23 by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

Drop in on Friday, Aug. 16, as the story continues in Fortnite Battle Royale’s Chapter 5, Season 4: Absolute Doom, featuring the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom! 

The new season will allow players from around the world to continue the Fortnite and Marvel story with new action-packed gameplay and locations to explore.

When the upcoming “The Mandalorian and Grogu” movie blasts off in theaters in 2026, it will also touch down at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. A brand-new story featuring Mando and his youngling is coming to Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

During Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Star Wars creative executive Dave Filoni joined Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro onstage to discuss the upcoming addition to the attraction in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. As Dave explained, the Lucasfilm team uses Epic’s Unreal Engine to create some of the virtual sets for “The Mandalorian.” Now, with the expanded partnership between Disney and Epic Games, Epic’s Unreal Engine will help bring to life the latest adventure in a galaxy far, far away.

“The intersection of storytelling and innovation has always been central to Lucasfilm and we’re excited to see where this collaboration will take us next,” Dave told the crowd. “Just imagine it: you’ll be able to fly alongside Mando and Grogu on thrilling, and dangerous, missions.”

Expect to see this new mission jump to lightspeed when “The Mandalorian and Grogu” hits the big screen in 2026. This is the way.
