SNEAK PEEK at Disney’s Exclusive New Halloween Collection

We get quite a bit of unintentional exercise in the Disney parks.

Disneyland

From the speed walking at rope drop to the sometimes ridiculous stretches we have to do to get on and off rides to the 15,000-step days when you’re in the park from open to close, you’re definitely getting a bit of a workout in during your Disney vacation. However, if you want to be even more intentional about your Disney exercise, you can sign up to do a runDisney race in the parks. And there’s a NEW one coming to Disneyland Resort soon!

On September 5th-8th, 2024, Disneyland Resort will host its first-ever Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend. Since we’re only a few weeks out, Disney has released a sneak peek at the race weekend merchandise!

To purchase these items, those participating in the races can visit the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo throughout the weekend to shop the collection. The whole collection is inspired by the Halloween season, with nods to various popular spooky Disney characters!

The shirts for the races feature characters like Chip ‘n’ Dale, the hitchhiking ghosts from Haunted Mansion, and Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle Cow dressed as the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus

If you want something to keep you warm, you can also check out the Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired jacket. It has Zero on the back!

And of course, it wouldn’t be a collection without some Minnie ears! This pair has a Disney Halloween character pattern on the front with a spiderweb bow, then the race weekend logo on the back.

The runDisney Health & Fitness Expo will be available at the Disneyland Hotel during select times throughout the weekend. The open times are as follows:

  • Thursday, September 5th, 2024: 10AM–8PM
  • Friday, September 6th, 2024: 12PM–8PM
  • Saturday, September 7th, 2024: 10AM-4PM

If you want to shop the merchandise on the first day, you’ll need to join the virtual queue in the Disneyland app. Virtual queue will be the only way to shop the merchandise collection on the first day of the expo and the queue will be used as needed throughout the rest of the weekend.

We have a feeling some of these items are going to be pretty popular, like those ears or the Halloween Half Marathon Weekend Loungefly backpack! There will also be a new Corkcicle design available for purchase.

And of course, Disney couldn’t leave out the Magic Key holders! If you have a Disneyland Resort Magic Key, you can check out the exclusive race weekend shirt.

We’ll be on the lookout for more updates on the race weekend, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest!

Test Track Canopy Supports Almost Entirely Dismantled at EPCOT

As work continues on the attraction’s reimagining, the Test Track canopy supports have almost been entirely dismantled at EPCOT.

Test Track Canopy

Construction scene at a large building with a reflective facade, featuring a crane and construction equipment in the foreground, surrounded by trees and greenery under a partly cloudy sky.

In our last update, the center portion of the canopy had come down. As of Tuesday, August 27, just this scaffolding tower near the former Single Rider and Lightning Lane entrance remains. The ride originally closed in June 2024 to make way for updates.

Outdoor scene showing a monorail track above a pathway with a few people walking. In the background, there's a modern building with a reflective glass facade and greenery around it.

From a distance, you can see the remaining scaffolding tower still holding on.

A curved building under clear sky with construction barriers and scaffolding in front. Trees and a grassy area are in the foreground.

The canopy was damaged by Hurricane Ian in late 2022 and removed. It was later replaced in March 2023 and finally removed for good in early August 2024 as part of the ride’s reimagining.

A futuristic blue and white ride vehicle attached to a crane-like structure, set against a large glass building under a partly cloudy sky. Signs read "Single Rider" and "Lightning".

A crane was parked directly next to the tower when we visited the park.

Construction workers in orange vests are working near a partially built metal structure, with greenery and a large building visible in the background.

We spotted crew members in this area, so it’s likely that this support will no doubt come down soon.

Concept art for the ride’s updated entrance does not include the canopy structure. Instead, a new overhang will be installed over the entrance. There will also be an updated attraction sign. It’s scheduled to open in 2025.

Once open, Test Track 3.0 will “celebrate today’s innovation while highlighting the past, present, and future,” with Disney drawing inspiration from World of Motion, which Test Track replaced.

Are you glad to see the old canopy finally become a thing of the past? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
