Grab your apron — it’s time to get in the kitchen and get cooking!
Recipe Card
We love recreating Disney recipes at home — it’s a great way for us to bring some of that Disney magic into our normal lives (especially if we make sure we’re wearing our favorite Disney apparel or using Disney kitchenware while we cook). If you love seeing what recipes Disney releases as much as we do, we’ve got great news — Disney has just released a new recipe, this time from the Aulani Resort in Hawaii!
Disney’s Aulani Resort is a standalone hotel located in Hawaii. It isn’t close to any Disney theme parks, but that’s okay — trust us when we say the beauty and amenities at the resort are more than enough to keep you occupied! (Although, if you’re looking for a Disney vacation where you can enjoy the theme parks, DON’T book a stay here!)
@DisneyAulani
The food here is unlike what you’ll find at any other Disney hotels and resorts in the United States, but now you can bring some of it home with you! Disney has just released their recipe for the Mickey Mouse-shaped Musubi served at Ulu Cafe.
Here’s how you can make it at home — it serves up to 4 but can easily be doubled.
Ingredients
2 cups steamed sushi rice, at room temperature
4 ounces SPAM
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shoyu soy sauce
1 sheet nori, cut into 3/4-inch wide strips
4 teaspoons furikake seasoning
Instructions
Fill a 3 1/2 inch Mickey Mouse-shaped cookie cutter with 1/2 cup cooked sushi rice. Carefully unmold rice onto a plate. Repeat with remaining rice. Set aside.
Slice SPAM into 1/4-inch pieces. Heat sauté pan over medium heat for 5 minutes, until hot. Cook SPAM for 3 minutes on each side, until browned. Remove from pan. Add sugar and shoyu soy sauce in pan and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until slightly thickened.
Return SPAM to shoyu-sugar sauce and cook for 4 minutes, turning after 2 minutes. Remove from pan and drain on paper towels.
Place SPAM horizontally across Mickey Mouse-shaped rice. Wrap with nori strip. Garnish ears with furikake.

It is nearly Halloween, but Disney is already celebrating the spooky season! One of the coolest things about Disney Halloweens is the holiday overlay you can see at the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland.
Haunted Mansion at Disneyland
Disney dresses up the ride with decorations and characters from the popular cult classic movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. While the movie came out in the 90s, it has found popularity much more recently. Throughout the Halloween and holiday seasons, you can see The Pumpkin King Jack Skellington, his dog Zero, and other popular characters within the ride. But there is one addition to the Haunted Mansion that everyone LOVES to see — the gingerbread house! And now Disney has shared an inside look at this marvelous structure.
When you ride the Haunted Mansion with The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay, you’ll see a giant gingerbread sculpture in the ballroom scene. You’ll likely smell gingerbread before you even see it, and this year’s creation is brand-new!
Gingerbread Display at the Haunted Mansion
This year, Jack Skellington recruited Dr. Finkelstein, Halloween Town’s mad scientist, to create new ideas for the gingerbread house.
As he does, Dr. Finkelstein “incorporated some of his experiments into the gingerbread house.” He worked to create his new Gigantic Gingerbread Zombie, Lil’ Franky, and he has brought him to life (well, almost)! Unfortunately, the transformation isn’t quite complete and to finish the project his head must pop on and off (sounds terrible).
You may find more of Dr.Finkelstein’s creations as you continue through the Haunted Mansion. Disney also shared some awesome facts about the gingerbread house. It took over 150 hours to build and program the animation and lighting, not including the time to bake the gingerbread and put it all together! It is 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide and includes the following:
60 Pounds of Gingerbread
50 Pounds of Powdered Sugar
10 Pounds of Egg Whites
30 Pounds of Rolled Fondant
5 Pounds of Crystal Sugar
10 Pounds of Chocolate
More than 240 Hours Spent Creating
2 Hidden Mickeys
That’s a lot of ingredients, time, and work to bring to life this wonderful creation! We just hope Lil’ Franky is doing alright.
The finished product
If you want to see this creation and the rest of the Hallow-day overlay, you’ll have plenty of time as it will be around for the next few months! Drop by Disneyland Park and jump in a doom buggy this Halloween or holiday season.
When you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you need a few key items. One: your phone. Duh! Two: your wallet. Three: a trusty bag. You simply can’t travel without a reliable bag!
Disney World
Recently, we spotted a bag that’s available on Amazon now, and it’s a total game-changer for travel pros.

This is GENIUS! If you’re flying on a budget airline, you might want to pack light and avoid paying extra to check a bag. But, often, backpacks just don’t have the space for your outfits, Minnie ears, and other travel essentials. The Underseat Pro backpack is actually a hybrid packing cube/backpack, though, so you have plenty of room for your necessities!
It also complies with several major airlines while still taking full advantage of its size. Features include a luggage sleeve, adjustable sternum strap, internal mesh pockets, a large water bottle pocket that can hold an entire one-liter water bottle, and two zipper pockets on the right side of the backpack, which is ideal for quick and easy access.
Just look at all that interior space! You can fit shoes, shorts, and t-shirts in there — and stick it right under the seat in front of you on the airplane. That means you could potentially skip baggage claim altogether! It’s available on Amazon in two different colors.
It’s not too often we find a Disney Loungefly bag for under $40! This one is a brand-new Haunted Mansion-inspired bag with credit card slots and a clear slot to hold your ID.
Yes, if you head over to Adventureland tomorrow, you’ll see that Jungle Cruise will be closed for refurbishment. This is usually just a case of Disney doing some general maintenance on the ride, and the good news is that it will reopen on October 17th. But if you’re visiting Disney World between tomorrow and then, this classic attraction won’t be available.
Jungle Cruise
A few years ago, the Jungle Cruise had some HUGE changes introduced to the ride with brand new scenes and storylines. Disney hasn’t said that anything will change with that, but we’ll see if Disney announces any actual changes to the ride. In the meantime, if you’re missing out on those bad dad jokes and puns, you can get a bit of a Jungle Cruise experience at Skipper Canteen, which is a restaurant themed around the Jungle Cruise.
Skipper Canteen
Jungle Cruise will eventually get a holiday overlay to become Jingle Cruise — this usually happens at the end of November. We always recommend checking out the holiday overlay because it comes with new holiday-themed jokes, too.
Jingle Cruise!
If Jungle Cruise reopens before its scheduled reopening date, we’ll be sure to let you know, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
