Dr. Doofenshmirtz Meet and Greet Character
Watch Disney Parks’ video of Doof below.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz is played by a live actor with a headpiece replicating the cartoon character’s elongated forehead. The set around him — likely the set he will appear on during the Halloween party — features some “inators” and a console with levers.

The Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade is back with more Disney Villains for another year of tricks and treats at Disneyland.
Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade
The cavalcade travels from “it’s a small world” down Main Street, U.S.A. It begins with Pluto and Goofy riding in the fire engine. Mickey and Friends are all wearing their new 2024 Halloween costumes.
Goofy is dressed as a scarecrow. Pluto is wearing the top of a pumpkin as a hat.
The main float has new decorations that match their costumes and the Mickey’s Pumpkin Patch merchandise line. A “Mickey’s Pumpkin Patch” sign is on the front of the float with several jack-o’-lanterns. A “Happy Halloween” sign featuring Mickey jack-o’-lantern is on the top back of the float.
The float carries Daisy, Donald, and Clarabelle on the lower platform. Donald and Daisy are dressed as a patchwork warlock and witch, respectively. Clarabelle has a scarecrow costume to match Goofy’s.
Mickey, Minnie, Chip, and Dale are on the upper platform. Mickey is dressed as a skeleton with a cape. Minnie has a tattered witchy dress.
The platforms are lined in green with diamond-patterned purple paneling. The cavalcade uses music from the 2002 Disney’s Halloween Parade at Tokyo Disneyland.
Chip is an orange angel and Dale is a red devil.
Several classic Disney characters walk on the street after the float. Next comes the omnibus, carrying more classic characters like Cinderella, Aurora, Pinocchio, and Mary Poppins. Many carry jack-o’-lantern candy buckets.
The Disney Villains close the cavalcade. Last year, the amount of villains varied by performance, but there was usually only one or two. This year, the group includes Lady Tremaine and her daughters.
They walk on the street with Gaston, Maleficent, and the Evil Queen.
The Evil Queen showed off her cape skills.
Cruella de Vil rode in the jitney at the end of the cavalcade.

The day has finally come: Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs has opened at Disney’s BoardWalk after being initially announced last summer. Of course, we had to rush out to review the entire menu.
Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs
Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs is in the former funnel cake kiosk. It has been refurbished with a blue and yellow color scheme.
Guests order via a window on the left side of the kiosk. They pick up their order on the other side.
In addition to some unique gourmet corn dogs, Blue Ribbon offers lemonade. There are also two cotton candy options on the menu, but neither were available on opening day. We’ll have to come back and review them another time.
Everything is made fresh. So when you order, you’ll receive a buzzer that goes off when your food is ready.
Each corn dog is served with a bag of Lay’s potato chips.
Classic Dog – $12.50
All beef hot dog fried in cornmeal batter. Served with a bag of chips.
Kids Dog – $10.50
All beef kid size hot dog, fried in cornmeal batter. Served with a bag of chips.
The big dog is the adult-sized classic corn dog, while the small one is the kids dog, which tastes the same. “Classic” is an apt name. It’s as good as any corn dog you’ll get at a park or ball game. It has great sweet breading and the hot dog is salty. That said, it’s nothing special.
Rating out of 7: 2
Pickle Dog – $15.50
All beef hot dog wrapped in a dill pickle, fried in cornmeal batter, rolled in panko bread crumbs. Served with peanut butter and a bag of chips.
This tastes like a breaded pickle appetizer. The pickle is too big and overwhelms everything. It’s odd having so much pickle with a hot dog. The peanut butter dip is interesting. This is worth trying if you love fried pickles.

Mexican Street Dog – $15.50
Jalapeño cheddar sausage, fried in cornmeal batter, topped with garlic mayo, corn kernels, cotija cheese, and cilantro. Garnished with a lime wedge and served with a bag of chips.
This was our favorite of the gourmet hot dogs. If you like street corn toppings, you’ll like this. It has a sweet heat that works with the salty hot dog. It would be nice to get more breading for more cornbread flavor, but it’s still a win.

Golden Dragon – $15.50
All beef hot dog fried in cornmeal batter, rolled in panko bread crumbs. Served with sriracha mayo, sweet Thai chili, and a bag of chips.
This dog is a meal. The extra panko makes it crunchy. The sriracha mayo is a miss for us. It’s sweet and creamy but not what we want with a corn dog. The Thai chili has a good sweet heat. We mostly liked it but it’s too heavy for the Florida heat. It could be a good shareable option.

Lemonade – $7 for Regular 16oz and $9 for Large 32oz
This is classic fresh-squeezed lemonade. It’s good though we would have liked more lemon tartness. We also feel the lemonades are too expensive. We would rather just get a soda.
Rating out of 7: 2
Strawberry Lemonade – $7 for Regular 16oz and $9 for Large 32oz
This has a strong strawberry flavor and is not tart. Kids will like it.
Rating out of 7: 3
Hibiscus Agave Lemonade – $8 for Regular 16oz and $10 for Large 32oz
This is too sour for us but some might like it. It has a more floral flavor than the others. It’s tarter than the strawberry but still sweet.
Rating out of 7: 2
Raspberry Apricot Lemonade – $8 for Regular 16oz and $10 for Large 32oz
This is good. It keeps the tartness and sweetness of the raspberry. We didn’t taste much lemon.

Disney has been fined $36,000 for a crew member’s fatal fall on the set of the upcoming Marvel series “Wonder Man.”
J.C. “Spike” Osorio was a lighting technician who died on February 6 after falling through a catwalk at Stage 3 of the Radford Studio Center in Studio City.
A California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) investigation found that the catwalk had a deteriorated section of wood that was improperly nailed to a roof support.
“The deteriorated ledger was weakened likely due to age, environmental conditions and repeated stress loads over many decades,” the investigative summary states. “As the crew walked along the catwalks, the employee stood on the weakened section of catwalk. Suddenly, and without warning, the ledger supporting the floorboard broke apart and collapsed as the employee was standing on this section of catwalk. The employee fell 41 feet and forcefully impacted the ground below.”
On August 6, Cal/OSHA issued two “serious” citations of $18,000 each to Disney and Marvel’s Ionic Productions. They also issued two citations to Radford Studio Center for $22,500 each, for a total of $81,000.
Disney and Radford have 15 business days to appeal the decisions.
Osorio’s wife, boom operator Joanne Osorio-Wu, and mother, Zoila Osorio, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Radford in May, alleging the studio knew the catwalks “were in a dilapidated condition and in desperate need of repair.”
Their lawyer, Erika Contreras, said, “The citations issued by OSHA against Radford Studio Center confirm that Mr. Osorio’s death was 100% preventable,” Contreras said. “It also confirms Radford Studio Center failed in its non-delegable duty to properly maintain, repair and inspect its premises. Unfortunately, Mr. Osorio paid the ultimate price for Radford’s failure.”
Hackman Capital Partners, who bought Radford Studio Center in 2021, stated in a proposal for updating and expanding the facility that it was “aging and outdated,” suffering from “decades of under-investment.”
Friends of Osorio launched a GoFundMe fundraiser for the family’s legal fees.
Osorio was a member of IATSE Local 728. The union said in a statement that they are “grateful to Cal/OSHA for their commitment to making our workplaces safer.”
Many studios upgraded their catwalks following Osorio’s death.
“The loss of Spike was and is needless as everyone should go home safely after a day’s work,” IATSE said in their statement. “While we recognize and appreciate the work that all the major studios have done in retrofitting their soundstages since this tragedy, there are many non-Union facilities that lack the resources and oversight to make this possible. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the safety of our members, and holding our employers to their federally mandated duty of a workplace that is safe and free from hazards. We continue to provide support to Spike’s family as well as his crew. The loss is felt deeply.”
They said in a February remembrance post that Osorio was the “most wonderful, thoughtful, and loving husband, a caring son, a wise brother, a strong friend, a brave veteran, a euphorbia enthusiast, a meticulous lighting technician, and a stickler for safety at work.”
“Wonder Man” wrapped filming this spring. The miniseries will consist of 10 episodes and premiere on Disney+ under the “Marvel Spotlight” banner.
