Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro Releases Update About Raglan Road Death Lawsuit

Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro has released an official statement regarding the pending wrongful death lawsuit of a guest who suffered a fatal allergic reaction after dining at Raglan Road, a third-party restaurant at Disney Springs in Florida.

The incident took place in October 2023. The guest consumed dishes at Raglan Road after being informed that they were prepared safely and were allergen-free. Disney recently filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by the guest’s husband, citing an arbitration waiver the guest had signed when making a Disney+ account.

Now, D’Amaro has released a new statement:

“At Disney, we strive to put humanity above all other considerations. With such unique circumstances as the ones in this case, we believe this situation warrants a sensitive approach to expedite a resolution for the family who have experienced such a painful loss. As such, we’ve decided to waive our right to arbitration and have the matter proceed in court.”

Josh D’Amaro

This statement indicates that Disney is withdrawing their motion for dismissal. Their original argument was that they should not be included in the lawsuit as Raglan Road is a third-party company (meaning: not owned nor operated by Disney).

The lawsuit states that Disney “advertises and represents to the public that food allergies and/or the accommodation of persons with food allergies is a top priority at its parks and resorts, including DISNEY SPRINGS and that patrons/guests may consult with a chef or special diets trained Cast Member before placing an order, and at all times material, Plaintiff relied upon these representations in selecting DISNEY SPRINGS/RAGLAN ROAD for dinner.”

After the incident became public, Raglan Road updated their website to state that they “CANNOT guarantee that any dish we prepare is free from Gluten/Allergen or free from cross contact.”

Droid Depot Debuts NEW A-LT Series in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland

New A-LT series units can now be built at Droid Depot at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park. A-LTs were first introduced in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and then featured in “The Mandalorian.” This marks the fourth unique droid series available for the building experience.

A-LT Series Droid – $99.99

A display of two Star Wars droid figures on a gray countertop. The droids feature various designs and colors, including red, black, silver, and white. People can be seen in the background.

Guests who visit Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can now build A-LT series droids. Previously, only R-series, BB-series, and C-series droids were available to build.

The A-LT series bodies are the same as those found on R-series droids. The above photo is that of an R-series droid body and dome with A-LT legs, which was what the Cast Members had available to show us on our visit.

Person holding a white and red spherical droid toy with a black stand on a counter, next to a grey and red droid toy.

We were able to view the legs, which are unique to the A-LT design. The legs are extendable. The gray hexagonal part of each leg doesn’t move, but the bottom black part drops down. The extender that drops from the hexagon is black with a subtle etched design.

A red, white, and black droid figure with extendable legs stands on a table next to a smaller gray and red droid. People and a checkout counter are visible in the background, capturing the bustling atmosphere of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

The legs can extend to various lengths, so after building their droids, guests can adjust them.

Clear Droid Backpack – $59.99

Two display droid backpacks are shown hanging against a red wall, with a sign nearby indicating a price of $59.99. A small droid figure is seen on the left side of the image.

A new backpack features a transparent window that allows guests to show off their droids. Beneath the window is a beige droid access panel. “Droid Depot” and the shop’s logo appear on a gray tag to the right of the access panel.

One side of the backpack displays a silver Industrial Automaton logo above the words “Industrial Automaton Astromech Droids.” There are elastic loops for storing attachments and accessories.

‘The Acolyte’ Star Wars Disney+ Series Canceled After One Season

Deadline reports that the Disney+ “Star Wars” series “The Acolyte” has been canceled after just one season.

‘The Acolyte’ Canceled After One Season

According to Deadline, Lucasfilm has opted not to renew “The Acolyte” for a second season. The Disney+ Star Wars series finished its eight-episode run on July 16, 2024.

The series premiered on June 4, 2024, with two episodes released on the same day. The two episodes were a hit, as they garnered 4.8 million views on the first day. It is still the biggest series premiere on Disney+ so far this year. In five days, the first two episodes were viewed 11.1 million times globally. The show ended up ranking #7 on Nielsen’s Top 10 originals chart during its premiere week, then climbed to # 6 the following week.

However, the show started losing viewership during the third week. It dropped out of the Top 10 every subsequent week, until finishing at #10 after the premiere of its finale. In the finale’s first week, it was viewed for 335 million minutes, which is thought to be the lowest for a “Star Wars” series finale.

While “The Acolyte” won’t get a second season, plenty of new Star Wars content is still coming to Disney+. At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, details were revealed for both “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” and “Andor” season 2.

Path Between New Orleans Square and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Reopens With New Look at Disneyland

Guests can once again fully loop Disneyland Park, as the path between New Orleans Square and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has reopened with a brand-new look.

New Orleans Square and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Path

A group of people walk outside a large, mansion-like building in a wooded area on a sunny day, reminiscent of the stunning architecture found near the New Orleans Square Entrance at Disneyland.

For the first time since July 8, guests can walk between The Haunted Mansion and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Previously, guests were turned away by construction walls that blocked access to the path in front of Critter Country.

A crowd of people is waiting in front of a set of kiosks beneath large trees in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square. Some hold umbrellas for shade while others stand in line. There's a wooden deck area with striped canopies overhead, evoking the ambiance perfectly.

Guests can now walk along the path in front of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the loading area for the newly reopened Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes.

From there, guests can make their way in front of the bottom level of Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. The restaurant, which is set to replace Hungry Bear Restaurant with Country Bear Jamboree theming, isn’t open yet.

The bridge portion of the pavement that is meant to look like wood has been touched up, though it hasn’t been replaced.

An open walkway with visible cracks in the foreground, people strolling in the background.

However, as we continued our walk, we discovered brand-new pavement made to look like dirt.

A group of people stroll on a sunny day near a wooden fence and rocks with trees in the background, enjoying the scenic walkway open in Critter Country.

This section of the walkway leads past the “secret” path to Harbour Galley which has yet to reopen. Wooden construction walls still block off the area.

The new path eventually gives way to the gray walkway that leads in front of Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree and eventually to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While construction walls still block Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the rest of the newly named Bayou Country, it seems as though this dirty pavement will extend into that area.

DLR DL Critter Country Walkway 21

Continuing down the path, we got a great look at the new Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree sign. The new iteration of the sign features much more colorful wording than the old sign did.

Guests can now sit at tables beneath the upstairs section of Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. However, the stairs that lead to the upstairs dining area of the restaurant remain blocked by wooden walls.

A portable charger rental kiosk is set against a wall in Critter Country, offering ready-to-use, swappable, and rechargeable chargers. Nearby, high chairs are stacked to the right, ensuring the walkway remains open.

Finally, the FuelRod machine near the stairs is operating once again.

How do you feel about the new look of the path between New Orleans Square and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? Let us know in the comments.

SPOTTED: Disney’s New Country Bear Jamboree Restaurant Takes BIG STEP Toward Opening

The Hungry Bear is almost back!

Hungry Bear

Earlier this year, Disney announced that Disneyland’s Hungry Bear restaurant would be renamed the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, complete with a brand new Country Bears theme. On our most recent trip to the park, we found a major sign that the restaurant is almost here!

In mid-August 2024, we noticed that a BRAND NEW sign for the new Hungry Bear had gone up at the “Happiest Place on Earth.”

The new Hungry Bear sign!

The new sign bears (sorry we couldn’t resist) the restaurant’s new name, compared with the classic hive dripping honey and buzzing bees hovering around it

The rethemed Hungry Bear has us buzzing with excitement.

According to Disney, the new restaurant’s theme will revolve around the Country Bears “putting their own twist on it with the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. After touring from coast to coast performing their tunes, Henry, Wendell, Big Al, and the rest of the gang have put together some of the favorite regional barbecue dishes they discovered along the way, just for you. You’ll want to try these bites, including the mouthwatering Smoked Barbecue Combo Platter with a selection of house-smoked meats, which will also be available on mobile order. For those music fans out there, you can feast upon these finger-lickin’ dishes as you enjoy some of the Country Bears’ greatest hits! “

The rethemed restaurant will mark the iconic Country Bears’ return to Disneyland. They had previously starred in a West Coast version of the Country Bear Jamboree that opened in 1972, just a year after the Walt Disney World version debuted. However, the show’s Disneyland version never reached the same heights of popularity as its Orlando and Tokyo counterparts, and it closed in 2001 to make room for Anaheim’s installation of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

The reimagined, Country Bear-themed Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree seems to be close to opening at Disneyland. Stay tuned to DFB for further details.

UPDATE On Universal’s New Theme Park in the UK

Universal has been making great progress on their new Epic Universe theme park which is expected to open in Orlando in 2025. Lots of rides have been testing and we have gotten LOTS of details about what to expect in each of the themed lands.

If building one new theme park isn’t enough, Universal has also been toying with the idea of building a brand-new theme park in the United Kingdom. This plan has been brewing for a bit, but we just got an update on the status!

At the end of 2023, Universal announced that they had purchased land in Bedford Borough, UK that they were considering building a new park on. They bought almost 500 acres of land, with the option to buy an additional 60 acres.

Universal Orlando

In June 2024, they released more details about their plans for this new park including that they were planning on building a 500-room hotel and dining area. It was estimated that the new park would generate nearly $50 billion pounds (about $63 billion U.S. dollars) in economic benefits for the entire country, bring in 20,000 jobs during construction, and create 8,000 jobs once it is complete. Universal was projecting that the project would take around six years to complete.

Universal Studios Hollywood

Now, there is another update regarding the potential for a Universal Park in the United Kingdom. According to the Financial Times, Universal is currently discussing tax and infrastructure incentives with British politicians. Universal’s decision on whether they will continue to move forward with building a multibillion-pound resort in Bedford will likely be determined by these discussions on incentives with government officials.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure

It is currently expected that Universal will make a final decision on building a United Kingdom theme park by the end of the year. If the negotiations between Universal and government authorities are not successful, Universal may consider other European locations to build the new theme park.

We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more about this potential new Universal theme park. Meanwhile, make sure to stay tuned to DFB for all your theme parks news!
