We recently got the opportunity to go to an event that was all about Disney Princesses — so let’s check it out.
We got to celebrate all things Disney Princesses at Disneyland recently and had SUCH a fun time! The event kicked off with us getting a sneak peek at some new Disney Princess souvenirs and merchandise that’s currently available to shop in stores and online.

Next, we got to go on a tour of Sleeping Beauty Castle! The Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough allows you to explore passageways where you can view Princess Aurora’s story through dioramas.

The dioramas are REALLY cool — they’re 3D and in typical Disney fashion feature sound and special effects. It’s a seriously underrated experience you should check out the next time you’re at Disneyland!

To find the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough, head to the west side of the castle in Fantasyland, where you’ll see a storybook open to a page announcing the birth of Aurora. From there, you can follow along with the story!

New extendable legs can now be added to droids at Droid Depot at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park. Two new droid backpacks are also available.
Droid Model With Extendable Legs – $99.99
Guests building an R-Series or C-Series droid at Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can now add extendable legs during the building process. These extendable legs are silver and black and shaped like triangles.
The gray hexagonal part of each leg doesn’t move as the bottom black part drops down. The extender that drops from the hexagon is black with a subtle etched design.
The legs can extend to various lengths, so after building their droids, guests can make them as short or as tall as they want.
Industrial Automaton Droid Backpack – $59.99
Two new backpacks are also available at Droid Depot. The first is gray and features “Industrial Automaton Astromech Droids” in white on the front small zipper pocket. Above the words is the Industrial Automaton logo.
On the bottom half of the front pocket is a blue panel with red, yellow, white, and blue buttons.
When the front pocket is unzipped, “Custom Astromech Units” is found in white beneath the Droid Depot logo.
One side of the backpack features a small gray pocket with a blue and white circle with eight black lines.
Clear Droid Backpack – $59.99
The other backpack features a transparent window that allows guests to show off their droids. Beneath the window is a beige droid access panel. “Droid Depot” and the shop’s logo appear on a gray tag to the right of the access panel.
One side of the backpack displays a silver Industrial Automaton logo above the words “Industrial Automaton Astromech Droids.”
Customizations are always being deployed at Droid Depot at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. In May, a new R-Series drum accessory set arrived at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Before that, two Droid Depot backpacks became available.

The giant Mickey jack-o’-lantern has been installed on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Park just in time for Halloween celebrations.
Giant Mickey Jack-o’-Lantern
The enormous carved pumpkin that has been a staple during Halloween at Disneyland for more than 15 years has been installed in its usual place where Town Square and Main Street, U.S.A. meet.
Mickey’s face is carved into both sides of the pumpkin, and two smaller, yet still very large pumpkins, have been installed as his ears. One side of the pumpkin shows Mickey smiling and winking.
The other side of the pumpkin depicts Mickey smiling with both of his eyes open.
The gigantic pumpkin sits on a pile of smaller pumpkins. Each pumpkin has a design carved into it, and they all feature stars of various shapes and sizes. The pumpkin stems grow long and tangled.
At the hub in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, jack-o’-lanterns featuring fan-favorite characters representing the various lands at Disneyland Park have been installed near the Partners statue.
Roger Rabbit smiles as he represents Mickey’s Toontown. The plaque beneath his face simply refers to the land as “Toontown.”
Buzz Lightyear stares seriously at guests above a “Tomorrowland” plaque. Guests can help Buzz defeat Zurg aboard Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.
Tinker Bell represents Fantasyland. Her wings are carved behind her.
The Critter Country plaque makes one final appearance beneath the Winnie the Pooh jack-o’-lantern. The land will be renamed Bayou Country when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reopens later this year.
While the name change isn’t supposed to take effect until November, the audio on Mark Twain Riverboat already refers to the land by its upcoming name.

Last but not least, Jack Skellington has been carved into a pumpkin to represent New Orleans Square. Guests can see Jack at Haunted Mansion Holiday, throughout Halloween and Christmas season.
Plenty of Halloween decor has been added to Disneyland Resort, as preparations are well underway for seasonal festivities. Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort officially begins on Friday, August 23. August 23 will also serve as the first night of the now sold-out Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure.

On a recent ride on Mark Twain Riverboat, we discovered that the prerecorded audio now refers to Critter Country as Bayou Country, nearly three months ahead of the expected name change.
Bayou Country Replaces Critter Country
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, it was announced that Critter Country would be renamed Bayou Country. The change was set to go into effect on November 15, 2024 and coincide with the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park.
However, on a recent ride on Mark Twain Riverboat, we noticed that the audio when passing by the land has been changed.
