The Longest Line in Disney World This Week Was NOT for a Ride in the Most Popular Park

Every week, we report the average Disney World wait times in every park so that you can be prepared for your next trip to Orlando! Recently, an interesting pattern of wait times has developed, and we need to discuss it.

It’s Halloween in Disney World!

Disney World is now officially celebrating the Halloween season in Magic Kingdom. A new skip-the-line Genie+ replacement called Lighting Lane Multi Pass is now in effect. So, with these factors in mind, what are the average wait times looking like in Disney World for the first week of August? Let’s take a look!

Either way, spending a day in Magic Kingdom right about now is the way to go!

Corrections Officer Fired After Shoving Stroller With Baby in it Toward His Wife at Walt Disney World

A newly hired prison corrections officer lost his job when he was arrested for pushing a stroller at his wife outside of the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC).

Damon Rembert, 29, of Jacksonville, was arrested for domestic violence and culpable negligence after pushing a stroller with his two-year-old inside of it at his wife at the TTC. His wife was able to catch the stroller before anyone was harmed according to the Orange County Sheriff’s arrest report.

The event took place in late May. All charges against Rembert were dismissed in July, and he was never charged with a crime. Rembert and his wife have both called the situation a giant misunderstanding.

I thought that they blew everything out of proportion and made a big deal out of something that wasn’t a big deal. There are actual battery domestic violence cases — we’re not one. If we were one, I would report it.

Although the charges were dropped, both Rembert and his wife are banned from Walt Disney World.

Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom viewed over moat

The incident took place after a day in Magic Kingdom, as Rembert and his wife dealt with crowds and heat to get out of the park. Rembert’s wife insists that her husband didn’t intend to cause her or their child harm.

He didn’t mean to let go. He was trying to push it to get closer to me because I had walked ahead. He just bumped my ankle with the stroller. I had the diaper bag on the handlebar, so the way that it bumped, caused the stroller to practically flip to the side. I caught it in time. My daughter didn’t fall out. She didn’t get injured. I was not injured.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies restrained and arrested Rembert because of the incident. His wife believes that the action of the police made everything worse for Rembert’s autism.

Shortly after his arrest, Rembert was forced to resign from his new job at Columbia Correctional Institution, a state prison in Lake City. The Florida Department of Corrections confirmed that Rembert no longer works there but did not provide details about his employment history. His wife said both she and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office notified his employer immediately after his arrest.

Rembert is still looking for another job. His wife had this to say:

That corrections job was really important to our family. That was going to provide a lot of stability, a lot more income. They caused our family a lot of financial distress. My two-year-old was traumatized seeing her dad taken away in handcuffs. She woke up to him being taken away, and she was screaming, “Daddy!”

Arrests continue to be all too common at Walt Disney World. In July, a man left his dog in a 120-degree car at Disney Springs. In June, a drunk woman tried to take her child to Magic Kingdom. In that same month, EPCOT Cast Members were attacked by two violent guests at Space 220 Restaurant.
