REVIEW: Stuffed Pancake Sandwich, Totchos, Guava Danish, and More Disney’s Animal Kingdom Breakfast Options

Some of the quick breakfast options of Disney’s Animal Kingdom have moved around and changed, so we decided to review them on a recent morning visit to the park.

A stuffed pancake sandwich can be found at Trek Snacks and Drinkwallah Snacks. Breakfast totchos and an egg and bacon croissant sandwich are at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery. A sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit is at Harambe Fruit Market and Tamu Tamu Refreshments. Tamu Tamu also has a guava and cream cheese Danish.

Trek Snacks & Drinkwallah Snacks

A sign displays a stuffed pancake sandwich with sausage, guava paste, egg, and cheese for $8.99. Text indicates it is available at Trek Snacks. Note at the bottom says "Applicable sales tax not included.

Stuffed Pancake Sandwich – $8.99

with sausage, guava paste, egg, and cheese

A piece of flatbread sits on a brown napkin atop a wooden railing near a body of water, with a bridge and foliage visible in the background.

This is probably one of the weirdest things we’ve ever eaten for breakfast. It contains egg, sausage, and a thin layer of guava paste inside of what they claim is a pancake.

It’s not a good pancake by any stretch. It’s not sweet, and it feels more like cornbread, because it’s dense and not fluffy.

A cake with a slightly browned top is sliced open, revealing a dense, layered interior with visible fillings on a piece of patterned wax paper outdoors.

The guava paste adds a touch of flavor, but we would have liked more of it to make the sandwich sweeter.

This is nowhere near as good as the pancake breakfast sandwiches we’ve had from McDonald’s or Wawa. In fact, it might be the worst breakfast food at Walt Disney World.

Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery

A hand holds a KUSAFIRI Coffee Shop and Bakery menu featuring items such as Egg and Bacon Croissant Sandwich, Breakfast Tachos, pastries, desserts, beverages, and specialty coffee drinks.

In addition to breakfast totchos and the egg and bacon croissant sandwich, Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery also offers Joffrey’s coffee and pastries like the colossal cinnamon roll.

A table with a cold beverage in a plastic cup, a croissant topped with scrambled eggs, caramelized onions, and hash browns, and another container with egg, hash browns, and crumbled bacon.

Breakfast Totchos – $10.99

Potato Barrels, Scrambled Eggs, Nacho Cheese Sauce, Cheese Curds, and Crumbled Bacon

A rectangular paper container holds loaded tater tots topped with melted cheese, diced bacon, chopped chives, and crumbled cheese curds, placed on an outdoor table with greenery in the background.

The totchos were fine but not great. The amount of egg, bacon, and cheese sauce was plenty. The flavorless cheese curds were a weird choice. They were somewhat cold — not melted or creamy like you might expect. Their texture didn’t go well with the rest of the dish.

A tray of scrambled eggs topped with bacon and cheese, served on a patterned surface with leafy greenery in the background.

We would suggest they add the roasted peppers from the sandwich instead of cheese curds. That would actually make this a very good dish. It’s a decent choice if you’re looking for something without a biscuit or croissant, but it’s mostly mediocre.

Egg and Bacon Croissant Sandwich – $8.99

Croissant with a Cheese Omelet, Crispy Bacon, and Tomato-Pepper Relish served with Potato Barrels

A cardboard tray contains crispy tater tots and a croissant sandwich topped with eggs and a chunky tomato sauce. Green foliage is visible in the background.

This was a pleasant surprise. Obviously, if you don’t like peppers or onions, this isn’t something you’ll go for. But it’s a nice breakfast option for people who do like those items.

There was a lot of bacon, a lot of egg, and a huge amount of pepper relish. That did create a problem because it was served open-face on a rather small croissant. We wish they had used a larger pastry and spread things out so it was more of a sandwich and easier to eat.

The tots on the side made this a rather filling breakfast. For $8.99, this is good value. We highly recommend it and would probably rank it the best of Animal Kingdom’s breakfast offerings.

Tamu Tamu Refreshments

People stand in line at a rustic building with a sign for “Kilimanjaro Safaris” and “Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.” A menu board for "Tamu Tamu" with food images is seen in the foreground.

In addition to the biscuit and Danish we’re reviewing, Tamu Tamu Refreshments offers the colossal Mickey cinnamon roll, honey-pistachio croissant, and chocolate twist for breakfast.

Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscuit – $6.99

A sandwich on foil featuring a sausage patty and an egg on a bun, with a background of green foliage.

This is your standard theme park breakfast sandwich. The biscuit was good. We liked the cheese because it seemed to be an actual slice instead of some fake plastic.

It’s a decent size, so it’s somewhat filling. We wish they offered a side dish like tater tots because that would make it a nicer meal. As is, it’s more of an on-the-go snack, but if you need something to eat while walking, this is an easy solution.

Guava and Cream Cheese Danish – $4.49

A large glazed pastry with a white frosting drizzle, filled with custard and a red fruit center, sits on a white plate on an outdoor table with green plants in the background.

The guava and cream cheese Danish was a flavorful quick bite. The pastry was flaky and fresh. It’s not very filling, so we would suggest one of the sandwiches if you’re really hungry, but if you like guava, this is a great treat.

If you’re not sure if you like guava, this might be worth a try. The guava combined with the cream cheese is great and a good introduction to the guava flavor.
