We Know When Lightning Lane Prices Will SKYROCKET in Disney World

Disney World’s Lightning Lane system has changed. Genie+ is no more and now we’re left with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, which you can purchase all at the same time and days ahead of your trip.

Goodbye Genie+

Like Genie+, though, Multi Pass is still a paid-for service, and it still uses surge pricing where the pricing fluctuates daily. So on days Disney anticipates the parks will be busier, they raise the price of Multi Pass and Single Passes, and on slow days they drop. Based on the pricing for Genie+ in 2023, and looking at current Lightning Lane trends, we have some pretty good ideas about when we’ll see the 2024 prices for Multi Pass and Single Passes SKYROCKET.

One significant difference between Genie+ and Lightning Lane Multi Pass is that Genie+ used to have a Multiple Parks option that was the same price as the highest-priced park, which was always Magic Kingdom. You could only choose Lightning Lanes in multiple parks if you purchased this option. Now, with Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you purchase it for the park you plan to start in and then you can still park hop and grab Lightning Lanes for any other park without paying an additional cost.

When we took a look at the prices for Genie+ in 2023, we noticed there were a few dates when the prices went extremely high compared to the other days of the year. These were times when we saw prices from $29 for the Multiple Parks and Magic Kingdom option all the way up to $39! If we look at the Multiple Parks option, Magic Kingdom had the same price while the other parks were lower, but they all still increased to the highest they had been all year.

Based on that information and data, we expect that Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year will have very high prices for Lighting Lane Multi Pass. Last year, Genie+ was around $27 for most of November. It increased to $35 on November 20th, 21st, 23rd, and 24th. November 23rd was Thanksgiving. This year, Thanksgiving is November 28th, and it’s probably likely that we’ll see Multi Pass increase in pricing starting November 25th.

If we look at Christmas, last year, Genie+ for Magic Kingdom was $29 on December 18th which was the first day of the skyrocketing prices. From there they just continued to get higher. On December 21st, Magic Kingdom was $29, while it was $35 on December 22nd. Then from December 23rd through December 31st, Magic Kingdom was $39! On New Year’s Day 2024, it was $35.

That means this year, we can likely expect Multi Pass to start climbing in price around one week before Christmas and likely hit its highest price just a few days before Christmas. If you’re headed to Disney World around any of these major holidays, be prepared for higher crowds, higher wait times for rides and restaurants, and higher prices for Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
