Disneyland Railroad Main Street Station Behind Scrim During Closure

The Disneyland Railroad is closed for refurbishment, and the Main Street Station is now behind themed scrim.

Main Street Station

Themed scrim is up around the Main Street Station both inside and outside Disneyland park. On the outside of the park, where guests can see the station and take photos with the Mickey planter bed, the scrim resembles the real thing, complete with a clock and the Disneyland sign.

Inside the park, the scrim resembles the back of the station that faces Main Street, U.S.A. The scrim is printed with the images, making them transparent when the sun is at the right angle. Disney sometimes uses plain scrim or tarps when working on facades, but often, the scrim resembles the building being refurbished so as to be less intrusive.

A building under construction with a facade decorated to resemble the original structure stands prominently, while construction barriers with signage indicate the temporary closure of nearby attractions, including the iconic Main Street Station of the Disneyland Railroad.

Inside the park, the construction walls in front of the stairs have posters showing the Main Street Station at Disney Parks around the world.

The posters are marked with a logo for the New Century Historical Society and have the Disneyland “D” in a shield on top. Filigree designs surround the images, and the opening year for each is listed below. The included stations are from Shanghai Disneyland (2016), Hong Kong Disneyland (2005), Disneyland Paris (1992), Tokyo Disneyland (1983), Magic Kingdom (1971), and Disneyland park (1955).

A decorative sign informs visitors about the temporary closure of the Disneyland Railroad, encouraging them to learn more by visiting engineers at Toontown Train Depot and Main Street Station.

Guests who want to learn more about the Disneyland Railroad can visit the Toontown Train Depot and Tomorrowland Train Station, where photos and models are on display during the closure.

The Disneyland Railroad is closed for a refurbishment. A partial closure of select stations began earlier this year for the construction of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and the full attraction and all stations closed on August 5. A reopening date has not been announced at this time.
