Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter Opens Refurbished Rooms to Guests

This past weekend we saw reports that Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter opened newly refurbished rooms to about 60+ guests.

Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter Refurbishment

This is a look at what the rooms looked like before this refurbishment, back in April of this year we reported that some rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter would be under refurbishment starting in May. We do expect this refurbishment to continue on in other buildings and rooms through November 2024.

The new rooms feature a fresh coat of cream paint which brightens the room. There are small nods to ‘Princess and the Frog’ as well as the New Orleans Mardi Gras season throughout the refurbished room.

The flooring below the beds appears to have been changed as well. Previously there was a straight pattern with a darker wood framing the interior (barely seen in the first image above). Now it is a more chevron pattern in the bedroom area.

The headboards above the beds are framed in that pale blue teal color that once coated the entire wall. There is a fun mosaic-looking pattern just above the soft pale blue headboard. There are also new lighting sconces above each bed. There are black reading lights incorporated on either side of the headboard that appear to fold into the headboard when not in use.

The linins on the bed appear to remain that clean white, but there is now a fun orange throw pillow to bring more color to the bed. There are small Fleur-de-lis in a repeating pattern in the two bands on either side of the pillow.

There is a small shelf affixed on the wall next to headboard closest to the bathroom for more storage. In the center bedside table there is more storage as well as USB-A and USB-C ports.

A closer look at the wall in the background reveals a new barn door to the bathroom. It’s painted in that same pale blue color scheme as the headboards with gold metal details on the top and handle. In the design pattern in gold, you can see details like Tiana’s crown in ‘Princess and the Frog’.

In the golden framed artwork to the right of the barn door is a party scene set in the French Quarter of New Orleans. There are big Mardi Gras floats going by and beads being tossed as Charlotte La Bouff, Princess Tiana’s friend dances in the street.

Just beyond the barn door is the bathroom. The bathroom has a golden framed mirror above a double sink. There is a white marble look to the vanity.

Just below the sinks, there is an additional storage shelf and a pullout stool for guests to better reach higher spots in the room. The floor has been refurbished in the bathroom as well. It now features a mosaic pattern in the color scheme of the entire room, tying the whole redesign together very well. The shower bath now has a white tile chevron pattern.

Back outside near the vanity is a full-size mirror to check your Dinsey Bounding fit before hitting the parks. There is a cubby space just to the vanity and a full-size ironing board. Opposite the cubbies on the other wall is were the safe and hanging closet are located.

The television is on the wall just above the long set dresser. There are some built-in shelves in the far corner where the coffee machine and ice bucket can be found. There is an Alexa ‘Hey Disney!’ device in the center.

The dresser is painted in the same pale blue color as the barn door. There are also gold pulls on the dresser. The top of the dresser looks like white marble. There are more USB-A and USB-C ports on the dresser, so there should be plenty of different plugs to accommodate a family’s needs.

Here is a better look at those built-in shelves. The brick pattern with iron detail on these tiles gives the room a custom touch. Particularly fun about the shelves are the floating pieces of confetti and beads. The beverage cooler is hidden behind the screened door in the dresser.

Here is the seating area which has received a facelift as well. The air conditioning unit below the window has been painted the pale blue color seen previously with a white marbled topper. The curtains have been replaced with a more detailed but muted pattern that matches the sofa more.

The seat of the sofa matches the golden accent pieces previously seen. The back of the sofa is a dark green with a bold repeating pattern. The table that sits in front of the sofa is a muted brown, but the Mickey in Mardi Gras beads is a wonderful touch by housekeeping.

There are two Mardi Gras portraits above the sofa in golden oval frames. The first features Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen dancing in the street to a silhouette band. The other features Louis playing his trumpet while onlookers watch and throw beads from the balcony above.
