In June of this year, we reported that an exterior refurbishment had begun at the Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. Today, the walls and scrim have been removed revealing some refreshed paint, fixtures, and more.

Here is a look at what the Plaza Restaurant looked like on September 9, 2024. A section of the walls is removed on the far left side, but details in the flower boxes and more are still missing

On September 12 the scrim was removed from the front facade, but the walls remained in place. Throughout this refurbishment, the restaurant has remained open to guests.

Today our reporter saw the walls were entirely removed revealing fresh paint, refreshed lighting fixtures, and more. Nothing has been changed in the color scheme or design.

The front door has always been accessible to guests throughout the refurbishment so there was no real change to the front doors. You can see the refreshed paint on the column and base of the windows. The cream and grey paints are complimented by the deep maroon line that matches the front door.

The menu also features a maroon background. The signs have been refreshed with bright gold accents, and the light fixtures have been cleaned. The flower pot affixed to the wall has been refreshed with cream paint to blend into the wall.

In the windows above the restaurant, there are two advertisements. Larry Slocum was an opening team Cast Member at Walt Disney World from 1971 until his retirement in 1998. Before opening Walt Disney World, Larry worked in Disneyland in California. Larry passed on January 10, 2024, surrounded by family.

The edge of the restaurant just before Tomorrowland Terrace has also been refreshed with paint matching its previous design, fresh fall flowers, and cleaned lighting fixtures.
