After nearly a full year, the King Triton statue has returned to its rightful place in Magic Kingdom, complete with a fresh coat of paint (and no more grime).
King Triton Statue Returns to Fantasyland
After keeping an eye on it over that summer, we first reported on the saga of the King Triton statue in October 2023, when it was presumably removed to take care of the grime and washed-out paint. After a total of 338 days missing, he’s finally back and presiding over his subjects.
The statue of Ariel’s father can now once again be found across from Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, next to a Disney Vacation Club station.
It appears as though King Triton got a full refresh on his “vacation.” As you can see in our photos, the statue has not only received a full repaint, but the faux wood grain on the statue looks much more prominent.
The gold accents of the statue in his crown, wrist guards, and triton are all bright and no longer pale from the Florida sun.
The base of his statue has also been painted a natural wood color. It was formerly black on the front, sides, and base.
What excites us the most about this statue refurbishment is the state of his hands. They are now perfectly clean and manicured, with not a touch of grime in sight.
In our report before the statue was removed, his hands in particular were caked in dirt and grime, with scuff marks and peeling paint from years of wear. This was the worst of the statue’s visual issues prior to removal.
The hand was cleaned about a month before Triton “disappeared,” but the paint scuffs remained.
His beard is bright white now, rather than the dingy gray it was before the statue was removed. His skin also has some warmth added to it, giving life to the static figure.
We’re glad to see Ariel’s father back in his rightful place! Have you spotted King Triton back in Magic Kingdom? Let us know in the comments and on social media.
