LEGO Super Mario, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park Sets Retiring in 2024

Several Super Mario, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park/Jurassic World LEGO sets will be retired at the end of 2024.

LEGO Super Mario

The LEGO Super Mario sets are all expansions for the Super Mario Adventures Starter Course with LEGO Mario, LEGO Luigi, or LEGO Peach. These sets must be connected to a Starter Course for use of the interactive elements and custom gameplay.

LEGO Super Mario Dorrie’s Sunken Shipwreck Adventure Expansion Set – $44.99

Dorrie’s Sunken Shipwreck Adventure Expansion Set, #71432, has 500 pieces and is recommended for ages 7+. It comes with a Dorrie figure and buildable Cheep Cheep, Cheep Chomp, and Blooper.

LEGO Super Mario Nabbit at Toad’s Shop Expansion Set – $19.99

Nabbit at Toad’s Shop Expansion Set, #71429, has 230 pieces and is recommended for ages 7+. It includes a yellow Toad and Nabbit figures. The buildable shop comes with toys, food, and a shopping cart.

LEGO Super Mario Penguin Family Snow Adventure Expansion Set – $19.99

The Penguin Family Snow Adventure Expansion Set, #71430, has 228 pieces and is recommended for ages 7+. It includes two buildable penguins, a Goomba figure, a buildable cave, a skating rink/slide, and more.

LEGO Super Mario Rambi the Rhino Expansion Set – $8.79

The Rambi the Rhino Expansion Set, #71420, has 106 pieces and is recommended for ages 7+. It comes with a buildable Rambi figure, stackable rocks, and a banana.

LEGO Super Mario Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride Expansion Set – $87.99

Want to get a head start on building LEGO Epic Universe at home? Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Expansion Set, #71425, may not be exactly like Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness, but it has similarities. It comes with 1,157 pieces, including four buildable figures — Funky Kong, Diddy Kong, a Snaggles, and a Mole Miner. There’s also a buildable mine cart and airplane (plus bananas). This set is recommended for ages 7+.

LEGO Super Mario Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam Expansion Set – $21.59

Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam Expansion set is #71421, and comes with 174 pieces. It’s recommended for ages 7+. The two buildable figures are Dixie Kong and Squawks, who can be placed on the rotating stage units. There is a guitar, bongos, plus a microphone and amplifier.

LEGO Super Mario Peach’s Garden Balloon Ride Expansion Set – $39.99

The Peach’s Garden Balloon Ride Expansion Set (#71419) has 453 pieces and is recommended for ages 7+. It has pieces to build a Blue Toad’s house, a hot air balloon, a Super Star Block, a Coin Block, and clouds. Four buildable figures come with the set, including Pom Pom, a Blue Toad, a Pink Yoshi, and a Lava Bubble.

LEGO Super Mario Peach’s Castle Expansion Set – $103.99

The Peach’s Castle Expansion Set is #71408, comes with 1,216 pieces, and is recommended for ages 8+. The castle has a throne room with a hidden compartment for Bowser, a Princess Peach “stained glass” window, a Time Block, and more. The buildable characters included are Bowser, Ludwig, Toadette, a Goomba, and a Bob-omb.

LEGO Harry Potter

Harry Potter and Cho Chang BrickHeadz – $19.99

This set, #40616, includes two BrickHeadz figures: Harry Potter and Cho Chang. The set has 267 pieces and is recommended for ages 10+. Both Harry and Cho are in their Quidditch gear and have broom accessories. There is also a Golden Snitch accessory.

Draco Malfoy and Cedric Diggory BrickHeadz – $19.99

The other Quidditch BrickHeadz set is also retiring. This set, #40617, includes Draco Malfoy and Cedric Diggory in their sports get-up. There are two brooms and one Quidditch cup trophy included.

Kingsley Shacklebolt and Nymphadora Tonks BrickHeadz- $19.99

Another set of BrickHeadz, #40618, features Kingsley Shacklebolt and Nymphadora Tonks in their outfits from “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” the fifth film of eight in the movie franchise. Its 250-piece count includes wand accessories, and it’s recommended for ages 10+.

Quidditch Trunk – $67.99

The Quidditch Trunk is set #76416 and is shaped like a trunk with a hinged side. When opened, the interior is set up as a Quidditch pitch. Recommended for ages 9+, this 599-piece set includes 4 character minifigures: Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Cedric Diggory, and Cho Chang. There are also ten extra heads in six different skin tones and 10 extra hairstyles included so you can customize the Quidditch players.

It includes a Quaffle, two bludgers, two brooms, two bats, a trunk, a wall with the house banners, and the Quidditch cup. The pitch can be arranged to play three separate “Quidditch training” games, including shooting a goal with a Quaffle, launching bludgers, and catching the Snitch.

Collectors’ Edition Hogwarts Express – $499.99

The Collectors’ Edition Hogwarts Express set (#76045) has 5,129 pieces, 20 minifigures, and is recommended for ages 18+. It includes a partial set of Platform 9 & 3/4 at King’s Cross Station, the Hogwarts express engine and four cars, and a placard brick with the Harry Potter and Wizarding World logos. Each of the three passenger cars is set up to recreate a scene from the films in different eras, and each features a quote from a movie. Of the 20 minifigures, several are the same character at different ages.

One scene is the moment from “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” where Harry and Ron meet Hermione. Its set has sweets, including a Chocolate Frog and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavored Beans. Eleven-year-old Harry, Ron, and Hermione minifigures are included.

The second re-creatable scene is the Dementor attack from “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.” The minifigures for this scene are Professor Lupin and the 13-year-old versions of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

The third scene recreates the end of the train ride from “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” It includes minifigures of Luna Lovegood, Draco Malfoy, and Harry Potter.

Finally, minifigures from the epilogue of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” are included to use on the Platform. It includes Harry, Ginny Weasley, and their children: Lily, James, and Albus Severus.

Jurassic Park

Visitor Center: T. rex and Raptor Attack – $129.99

Part of the Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary collection, the Visitor Center: T. rex and Raptor Attack set (#76961) has 693 pieces and is recommended for ages 12+. It recreates the original movie’s final showdown between the T. rex and a Velociraptor. The Visitor Center includes the entrance, a kitchen/dining area combination, and the genetics lab. It comes with a buildable T. rex skeleton.

You can also recreate the iconic moment when the “When dinosaurs ruled the Earth” banner falls on the T. rex by activating a trigger.

The included minifigures are Dr. Ellie Satler, Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Henry Wu, Ray Arnold, and Lex & Tim Murphy.

Jurassic World

T. rex Dinosaur Breakout – $49.99

The T. rex Dinosaur Breakout set, #76944, is a “learn to build” set meant for ages 4+ who have grown past DUPLO but aren’t quite ready for classic LEGO. It has 140 pieces, including a buildable airport, garage, helicopter, and collapsible fence. There’s a posable T. rex, a dinosaur egg, and more accessories for the three included minifigures: Owen Grady, Zia Rodriguez, and a Wildlife Guard (who has a tranquilizer).
