Our Stay at Disney’s New Fort Wilderness DVC Cabins: A Detailed Review

Our Stay at Disney’s New Fort Wilderness DVC Cabins: A Detailed Review

We’re thrilled to share our recent stay at Disney’s brand-new Fort Wilderness DVC cabins! Thanks to the DVC Rental Store, we had the opportunity to experience these updated cabins firsthand. Whether you’re planning a family vacation or a peaceful getaway, here’s what you can expect from these beautiful cabins.

First Impressions

From the moment we arrived at Fort Wilderness, we were amazed by the thoughtful upgrades. These cabins feel more spacious and modern compared to the previous versions. We stayed in cabin 2511, a taupe-colored one nestled right next to the pool. Each cabin is uniquely painted in earthy tones like green, blue, and canyon red, making the area feel cozy and colorful. One feature we loved was the new deck area with a spot to clean off your shoes – a small but practical addition for nature lovers.

Inside the Cabin

As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by a full kitchen. Unlike the older cabins, these come equipped with a full-size oven and four burners, perfect for those who prefer to cook during their stay. The fridge is also full-sized, and you’ll find all the kitchenware you need, from pots and pans to coffee makers.

The living room area features a pull-down Murphy bed with adorable touches like Chip and Dale-themed pillows and artwork. There’s also ample charging space, with USB and USBC outlets near the bed. The new floor-to-ceiling windows in the main area let in tons of natural light, though blackout shades and curtains are available for a cozier feel.

The Bedrooms

The master bedroom feels significantly larger than before, thanks to the bathroom being relocated. You’ll sleep on a queen-sized bed with USB outlets and reading lights on either side. There’s plenty of storage under the bed and inside the room for all your belongings.

For the kids (or adults who want to relive their childhood), the cabin has fun bunk beds complete with sleeping bag-style blankets, reminiscent of those on the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. The bunk area even has USB outlets built into little lanterns – perfect for charging devices while keeping the camping theme alive!

The Bathroom

One of the standout features of the new cabins is the bathroom, which is much larger than before. The addition of a pull-out step stool for the little ones was a thoughtful touch. While there’s no tub (which could be tricky for families with young children), the walk-in shower is spacious and includes both a rainfall showerhead and a handheld option. There are also multiple towel bars and a laundry line for added convenience.

Family Fun and Amenities

One of the reasons we love staying at Fort Wilderness is the plethora of activities available. From archery to stargazing and the ever-popular s’mores around the campfire, there’s always something to do. We spent our first night playing board games and hanging out on the deck. Even though the rain dampened our plans to grill, we still managed to make microwave s’mores – not quite the same as over an open flame, but still delicious!

We also took advantage of the golf carts available for rent, cruising around the loops and checking out the other cabins. If you’re staying at Fort Wilderness, we highly recommend renting a golf cart to make getting around easier and more fun. There’s something special about seeing the festive decorations that many guests put up during their stay.

Dining at the Cabin

One of the things we love about the DVC cabins is how much it feels like a home away from home. We brought plenty of food and snacks to cook during our stay. The full kitchen makes meal prep a breeze, saving money while allowing us to enjoy home-cooked meals. However, if you forget anything, the Meadow Trading Post has you covered with essentials like snacks, groceries, and firewood.

A Cozy, Comfortable Stay

The air conditioning in the cabin worked incredibly well – in fact, it got a little too chilly at times! But after a hot day exploring the parks, coming back to a cool, comfortable cabin was a welcome relief. The beds were cozy, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful, especially with the sound of rain on the metal roof.

Conclusion: Is It Worth It?

Our stay at the new DVC cabins was nothing short of amazing. The updates made the cabins feel fresh, modern, and incredibly comfortable. Whether you’re looking for a rustic retreat or a convenient Disney vacation, Fort Wilderness DVC cabins offer a perfect blend of both. Plus, booking through the DVC Rental Store saved us a significant amount of money – over $800 compared to the standard rack rate!

If you’re looking for a peaceful Disney vacation filled with outdoor activities, cozy cabins, and the magic of Fort Wilderness, this is the perfect place to stay. We can’t wait to return!
