RUMOR: Phased Closure of DinoLand U.S.A. to Begin Before 2024 Holidays

A new rumor indicates that the phased closure of DinoLand U.S.A. to make way for Pueblo Esperanza, the new Tropical Americas land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will begin before this holiday season.

According to WDWMagic, sources expect DinoLand U.S.A. to begin its phased closure plans before the 2024 holiday season to make way for upcoming attractions themed to “Encanto” and Indiana Jones.

Per WDWMagic, the first section of the land to close will be Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, including its roadside attraction-themed carnival games and TriceraTop Spin. This area is where the “Encanto” section and attraction are slated to be located, according to concept art and the land’s model shown at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

The “Encanto” attraction will take guests into the Casita from the film to celebrate with the Madrigal family on the day Antonio receives his magical gift — the ability to speak to animals. Guests will travel through the house in ride vehicles inspired by furniture that Casita has brought to life.

The phased closure will reportedly continue into 2025, with DINOSAUR to be the next offering on the chopping block. An exact closing date has not yet been announced.

The ride will close to make way for a new Indiana Jones attraction that takes place in an ancient Mayan temple, where Indy will search for a mythical creature.

The new land will also include a wood-carved carousel featuring Disney animals.

As this is just a rumor for now, Disney has not yet confirmed the exact timeline for DinoLand U.S.A. closures, though Josh D’Amaro previously said during D23 that guests will have “plenty of time” to ride DINOSAUR before it closes for good. The new Pueblo Esperanza land is scheduled to open in 2027.

NEW Winnie the Pooh ‘H2Onny’ Water Bottle Filling Station Installed at Disneyland

A second themed water bottle filling station has been installed at Disneyland, this time themed to the willy nilly silly old bear, Winnie the Pooh.

Winnie the Pooh Water Bottle Station

A whimsical water fountain features three drinking stations and a bottle filler. Decorated with a stack of faux plates and yellow dripping accents. "H2Ohhh" is written above the bottle filler.

We first spotted the new station during a visit to Disneyland Park on Thursday, September 26, 2024. The station itself is a bright blue color with dripping honey accents. There is a middle section to fill your water bottle, as well as two water fountains at different heights.

The station is located outside Pooh Corner in the currently-named Critter Country. The land will be officially renamed Bayou Country with the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure this November, though pre-recorded audio on the Mark Twain Riverboat was changed nearly three months early.

Stacked pottery jars with dripping honey design and the word "hunny" written on one. Wall background is red siding with visible details.

The top of the station features two stacked “hunny” pots, though this time they’re labeled as “H2Onny” for the water. Golden, sculpted “hunny” drips down from the openings of both overturned jars.

A blue three-tiered water fountain with a water bottle filling station mounted on an outdoor wall.

The hunny appears to have “dripped” down to the two water fountains, which sport silver hardware. The shorter of the two fountains is a perfect height for smaller guests.

This is the second newly-themed water bottle filling station installed at Disneyland, following the Alice in Wonderland-themed station added earlier this month.

What do you think of Disneyland continuing to add themed bottle filling stations to the parks? Which theme do you hope they go for next? Let us know in the comments and on social media.

According to Deadline, Smith’s passing was confirmed by her sons, Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin. In a statement to UK media, they said:

She passed away peacefully in hospital early this morning, Friday 27th September.

An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end. She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their case and unstinting kindness during her final days. We thank you for all your kind messages and support and ask that you respect our privacy at this time.

Smith earned two Oscars during her career as an actress: one for “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” in 1970, and another for “California Suite” in 1979, per the BBC.

In the “Harry Potter” films, Smith appeared as Professor McGonagall, the head of Gryffindor house and deputy headmistress to Albus Dumbledore.

Born in 1934, Smith’s acting work also includes roles in “Sister Act,” “Gosford Park,” and “The Lady in the Van.”

Our thoughts and condolences are with Smith’s family and loved ones.

Yesterday, September 26, Universal decided to cancel Halloween Horror Nights for the evening. Currently, only a wind advisory remains in effect for Orange County, where Universal Orlando Resort is located. That advisory will end at 11 a.m. ET. Guests visiting the resort today could expect to see some continuing wind and rain. The 8 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) states that storm surges along the panhandle of Florida and other parts of the state’s west coast should subside today. Hurricane Helene made landfall last night as a Category 4 hurricane.

Our thoughts are with those impacted by the effects of Hurricane Helene.

Walt Disney World Returns to Normal Operations Following Hurricane Helene

Walt Disney World has resumed normal operations following Hurricane Helene making landfall last night, Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Walt Disney World After Hurricane Helene

The advisory at the top of the Walt Disney World website (and on the My Disney Experience app) currently reads:

Walt Disney World is currently operating under normal conditions; however some experiences will be canceled or unavailable on September 26. We are closely monitoring the path of the storm as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.

Though guests visiting the resort today can expect continuing wind and rain, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf, and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf are all scheduled to reopen to guests today at 10 a.m. The Walt Disney World weather updates page has not been updated since Wednesday, September 25 at 4 p.m. ET.

During our visit to the parks today, we saw slight flooding in one of the guest lanes past the Magic Kingdom parking booths, with additional water and some fallen branches here and there. Otherwise, damage from the storm appears to be minimal at Walt Disney World.

Currently, only a wind advisory remains in place for Orange County, though it will end at 11 a.m. ET this morning. According to the 8 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), storm surges along the Big Bend of Florida and in other parts of the west coast of the state should subside today. Hurricane Helene made landfall last night as a Category 4 storm.

Yesterday, Walt Disney World canceled all of its nighttime spectaculars due to Hurricane Helene — including Luminous: The Symphony of Us at EPCOT, and Fantasmic! and Wonderful World of Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Happily Ever After was not scheduled to be performed at Magic Kingdom. The three canceled nighttime spectaculars all have scheduled performances tonight, Friday, September 27, at their respective parks.

That same day, Walt Disney World began preparations for the storm in the parks.

On Wednesday, September 25, Walt Disney World preemptively canceled Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for September 26, as well as select tours at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and closures for the Walt Disney World miniature golf courses; the tours were un-canceled the following day. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park was also announced to close on September 26 for the hurricane.

Walt Disney World’s hurricane policy webpage includes frequently asked questions and their answers regarding things like cancelation fees, rescheduling vacations, and more.

Our thoughts are with those who were severely impacted by Hurricane Helene yesterday.
