Disneyland Resort Empowers the Future Workforce with $1 Million in Grants to Local Nonprofits

It’s time to celebrate! As Disneyland Resort heads into the eighth year of its community workforce development initiative, we are excited to announce over $1 million in grants going to local nonprofits and school districts.

Designed to develop and prepare the workforce in Anaheim and beyond, the community workforce development initiative empowers jobseekers and students through programming with school districts and nonprofits. In addition to financial support, Disney VoluntEARS develop meaningful relationships with the organizations, lending their time and talents toward mentorship, training workshops, skills development and more.

Disney VoluntEARS from Disneyland Resort join their mentees from the Anaheim Union High School District for an end-of-year celebration as part of the Girls Inc. of Orange County’s “Girls Meet the Workforce” program.

Since 2017, the Disneyland Resort community workforce development initiative has impacted more than 10,000 lives and provided more than $7.5 million in support for organizations to grow their workforce programming and develop new programs.

Get to Know the 2024 Grant Recipients

With programs like Anaheim’s Innovating Mentoring Experience (AIME) providing one-on-one mentoring for high school students to career skills development workshops with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County and the Inland Empire and more, each of these organizations provides valuable resources for jobseekers and serves a diverse set of community needs.

We’re excited to give you a sneak peek at two of the new organizations making a difference in the Anaheim community that are joining the workforce development program at Disneyland Resort:

Chef Bruno accepts a donation from Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock and Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken in honor of Caterina’s Club as the celebrated charity of the 2024 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.

Caterina’s Club

Founded on a mission to provide warm meals, affordable housing assistance and job training to homeless and low-income families, Caterina’s Club has been an impactful force in Southern California for nearly 20 years. As the organization looks to expand workforce programming through its Hospitality Program, this support will give Anaheim high school students more opportunities to explore future careers in the hospitality and service industries.

This isn’t the first time Disneyland Resort and Caterina’s Club have teamed up: earlier this year, the resort named Caterina’s Club the celebrated charity of the 2024 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.

Disney VoluntEARS pose with Love Anaheim volunteers holding care kits
Disney VoluntEARS from Disneyland Resort drop off 400 care kits to Love Anaheim as part of the Anaheim Inclement Weather Shelter Network program in March 2024.

Love Anaheim

Launched in 2016 with a heartfelt mission of “spreading goodness and demonstrating kindness,” Love Anaheim provides a valuable resource connecting service project opportunities with available volunteers to further important causes in the City of Anaheim. With this funding, the organization will bolster its Better Way Anaheim program, which provides skills training and services to community members experiencing homelessness, with the end goal of securing employment.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Disney VoluntEARS, Disneyland Resort collaborated with Love Anaheim to pack care kits for the Anaheim Inclement Weather Shelter Network and on a series of park beautification projects in Anaheim.

“Following the approval of DisneylandForward, our expanding investment in the Anaheim community and dedication to workforce development remains a top priority for us. That’s why we are so proud to continue supporting schools and nonprofits that are empowering the next generation of leaders,” said Ken Potrock, president of Disneyland Resort. “The incredible work these organizations are doing to make a positive impact in our community is truly inspiring, and we are honored to support their efforts.”

The Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare Returns to Tokyo Disneyland for 2024

Halloween at Tokyo Disneyland runs from October 1 – November 7, but The Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare overlay returned on September 19 and will run through January 13.

Entrance to the Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare attraction at Tokyo Disneyland, featuring a Christmas wreath with a skull wearing a Santa hat, set against a cloudy sky and the building's gothic architecture. Get ready for an unforgettable 2024 experience!

The Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare

A framed oval picture of a skeleton figure holding a present, illuminated and surrounded by orange string lights and Halloween decorations from Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare, hangs on an ornate wall with draped fabric.

In the stretching room, the main portrait has been replaced with Jack Skellington in his Santa Clause costume.

A character with a curled hat and bright, glowing eyes peers downward through an octagonal opening, reminiscent of an eerie scene from the Haunted Mansion at Tokyo Disneyland's Holiday Nightmare.

On the ceiling, a giant Jack Skellington wearing a Santa Clause hat looms over taking up the entire ceiling.

A figure dressed as Santa Claus and a female with long hair loom in the dimly lit scene, reminiscent of the eerie charm of Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare.

As the ride begins you are greeted by Jack, Sally and the Vampire Teddy.

A Christmas tree made of stacked books with garland graces the dimly lit library of a Haunted Mansion, where fairy lights add an eerie glow to shelves brimming with old tomes.

In the library where the busts are located is Zero decorating the Christmas Tree of books with some garland.

A scene with two life-sized character figures in a dimly lit, decorated room, featuring fairy lights, a piano, and large windows in the background evokes the enchanting atmosphere of Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion.

In the piano room, Vampire Teddy ferociously plays piano as Sally looks on.

A shadowy figure resembling a ghost or demon, with pointed horns and a cloak-like shape, is illuminated against a circular white background—much like something you might encounter in Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion.

Oogie Boogie can be seen in his spotlight in different dancing poses.

A dimly lit hallway in the Haunted Mansion at Tokyo Disneyland features twisted bones forming a heap in the foreground and hanging formations in the background, with eerie red lights illuminating the space. Experience this spine-chilling sight when it opens in 2024.

In the endless hallway, there is a pile of bones as a present for Zero wrapped in ribbon matching Jack’s normal clothes.

A dark, eerie face with glowing eyes and sharp teeth emerges from the blackness, resembling a menacing, monstrous apparition straight out of Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare.

There is even a cameo by the iconic monster wreath with glowing eyes.

A dimly lit room with a lit chandelier, candles, and a crystal ball on a table. A window reveals animated figures, including a witch and children, against a night sky backdrop. Experience this enchanting scene at the Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare in Tokyo Disneyland in 2024.

Leota remains, but Lock, Shock, and Barrel can be seen just outside the window.

Decorated room with Halloween lights, carved pumpkins, and ghost decorations reminiscent of a Tokyo Disneyland Holiday Nightmare. Shadow figures appear behind a backlit curtain, adding spooky ambiance like the Haunted Mansion.

In the ballroom Zero dances above while the other ghosts continue the party below. In the window behind Zero, you can see Jack handing Sally a small Christmas present.

A scene featuring Halloween-themed decorations, including a large tentacle-like structure with embedded pumpkin faces and snow, set against a dark background with glowing lights and floating shapes, evokes the eerie charm of Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare.

The graveyard has been dusted in snow and taken over by the Pumpkin King. The jack-o-lanterns in the curled snow glow ominously on and off.

A puppet with a large, toothy mouth is illuminated by red string lights against a dark background, creating an atmosphere that might remind one of the eerie allure of the Haunted Mansion at Tokyo Disneyland.

Opposite of the graveyard in a tree, Vampire Teddy can be seen chaotically hanging Christmas lights.

A character with a skull face dressed in a Santa Claus outfit, featuring a long white beard and red hat, stands pointing to the right in a dark setting, reminiscent of the spooky charm found at Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare.

Rather than the Caretaker and his dog at the base of the descent, it is Jack and Zero. Jack is still wearing his Santa Claus costume holding a sack of toys.

A figure in a Santa Claus outfit with long, thin limbs stands on snowy ground next to a reindeer with a glowing nose in a dark, illuminated setting, reminiscent of The Haunted Mansion Holiday at Tokyo Disneyland in 2024.

Zero floats at Jack’s feet, similar to the Caretaker’s pup.

Four costumed figures, in dim lighting with string lights overhead, play musical instruments on a decorated stage reminiscent of the Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare at Tokyo Disneyland.

The band was still playing in the graveyard, however, they were playing music from “Nightmare Before Christmas” instead of their typical Haunted Mansion tunes.

A large Halloween-themed display at Tokyo Disneyland features illuminated jack-o'-lanterns of various sizes arranged on a white structure, set against a dark background, reminiscent of the 2024 Haunted Mansion Holiday.

Rather than the singing busts there were singing jack-o-lanterns.

The image features a scene from a dark ride with glowing skeletal figures, illuminated by blacklight, against a backdrop of glowing decorations and spooky scenery, reminiscent of the Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare at Tokyo Disneyland.

There is also a reindeer skeleton flying just above your head, likely gearing up for Jack’s big debut as Santa Claus.

Three cartoonish characters with spooky themes pop out of decorated boxes, surrounded by colorful gift boxes. The scene, inspired by Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion 2024 celebrations, features a witch, a devil, and a skeleton holding a lollipop.

Instead of the Hitchhiking Ghosts, Lock, Shock, and Barrel are seen popping out from holiday gifts.

Two animatronic figures with glowing faces are showcased in a circular opening with spider webs and a reddish border at Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare. The left figure holds a white mask, and the right figure has a wide grin.

It only makes sense that these three would be the ghouls catching a ride out with you.

A character with long red hair standing near a broken stone wall looks out at a dimly lit night sky with a full moon and a barren tree, as if part of the eerie landscape surrounding the Haunted Mansion.

Miniature Leota has been replaced with a scene of Sally looking on as Jack flies over the moon to deliver presents as Santa Claus.
