A new rumor indicates that the phased closure of DinoLand U.S.A. to make way for Pueblo Esperanza, the new Tropical Americas land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will begin before this holiday season.
DinoLand U.S.A. Phased Closure
According to WDWMagic, sources expect DinoLand U.S.A. to begin its phased closure plans before the 2024 holiday season to make way for upcoming attractions themed to “Encanto” and Indiana Jones.
Per WDWMagic, the first section of the land to close will be Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, including its roadside attraction-themed carnival games and TriceraTop Spin. This area is where the “Encanto” section and attraction are slated to be located, according to concept art and the land’s model shown at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
The “Encanto” attraction will take guests into the Casita from the film to celebrate with the Madrigal family on the day Antonio receives his magical gift — the ability to speak to animals. Guests will travel through the house in ride vehicles inspired by furniture that Casita has brought to life.
The phased closure will reportedly continue into 2025, with DINOSAUR to be the next offering on the chopping block. An exact closing date has not yet been announced.
The ride will close to make way for a new Indiana Jones attraction that takes place in an ancient Mayan temple, where Indy will search for a mythical creature.
The new land will also include a wood-carved carousel featuring Disney animals.
As this is just a rumor for now, Disney has not yet confirmed the exact timeline for DinoLand U.S.A. closures, though Josh D’Amaro previously said during D23 that guests will have “plenty of time” to ride DINOSAUR before it closes for good. The new Pueblo Esperanza land is scheduled to open in 2027.
