We recently attended Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom for a fun, spooky date night! This annual event is packed with Halloween-themed food, entertainment, and attractions. Here’s a breakdown of everything we experienced during this festive night at Disney!
Getting Into the Halloween Spirit
We kicked off the night at the Ticket and Transportation Center, dressed for the spooky occasion. Jen sported a Sully-inspired Disneybound, complete with Tokyo-exclusive Sully ears and Mike Wazowski accessories, while I kept it casual with a Disneyland shirt. After a quick Monorail ride, we were off to Magic Kingdom for the Halloween festivities!
Trick-or-Treating and Halloween Vibes
As soon as we entered, we were handed Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party treat bags. The party starts at 7:00 p.m., and trick-or-treat stations are scattered throughout the park. We grabbed our first treat of the night—delicious peanut butter M&M’s!
The Halloween atmosphere was in full swing, with Mickey-shaped pumpkins and spooky décor lining the streets. Magic Kingdom transformed into a haunted wonderland, with eerie lighting and fog filling the air. We spotted a fun photo opportunity with a themed projection that turned the lights into Mickey shapes, adding to the spooky fun.
Halloween-Themed Food
One of the highlights of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is the exclusive Halloween-themed food offerings. We headed to Friar’s Nook to try some party-exclusive snacks. Here’s what we sampled:
•Spicy Pork Spring Roll: This new offering was filled with charred pineapple and topped with scallion dust. The pineapple balanced the spice, but the flavor wasn’t for everyone.
•Bowl of Bones (Piggy Wings): These tender wings, tossed in Coca-Cola Cherry BBQ sauce with fresh jalapeños, were a returning item. While tasty, we both found the flavor to be a bit underwhelming without the jalapeños.
•Buffalo Chicken Hand Pie: A returning favorite, this flaky dough filled with buffalo chicken and mozzarella was topped with blue cheese crumbles and buffalo ranch. While delicious, the hand pie could’ve used more filling for the price.
•S’mores Cup: This layered dessert featured graham cracker crumbles, chocolate ganache, and marshmallow cream, topped with chocolate popping candies. It was a great sweet treat to finish off our savory snacks!
Experiencing the Spooky Attractions
No Halloween party is complete without a few rides! We skipped the long wait for Haunted Mansion and decided to hop on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. With no virtual queue needed, we quickly got in line and enjoyed a spooky ride through the bayou. The pumpkin-spiced alligators were a fun seasonal addition to the ride’s storytelling.
After the ride, we stepped out just in time to catch a glimpse of the fireworks, creating a perfect moment to enjoy the night sky filled with bursts of color.
Jalapeño Popper Hot Dog at Tomorrowland
Later in the night, we made our way to Tomorrowland’s Lunching Pad for a late-night snack: the Jalapeño Popper Hot Dog. This creation features a hot dog topped with Sriracha cream cheese, crispy onions, bacon, and Hades jalapeño relish. While a little messy, it was packed with flavor and spice. The crunchy onions and bacon added a satisfying texture, making it a fun snack for those who love spicy food.
We also grabbed the Queen of Hearts Slushie, a frozen cherry slush with black cherry puree, whipped cream, and a crown-shaped chocolate piece. It was super sweet, perfect for anyone who loves the taste of cherry Jolly Ranchers!
A Magical Parade and Fireworks
The night wouldn’t be complete without the Boo-To-You Halloween Parade. We found a great spot to watch the Headless Horseman lead the procession down Main Street. The parade featured all the classic Disney villains and spooky characters, adding a fun and festive touch to the evening.
As the night came to a close, we reflected on what a fantastic time we had. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party offers a perfect blend of spooky fun, delicious food, and Halloween magic that makes it a must-do for Disney fans every fall!
