Test Track Entrance Sees Minor Structural Progress at EPCOT

On our most recent visit to Test Track in EPCOT, we noticed a plastic tarp and structural support boards in the demolished concrete space at the front entrance of the attraction.

The EPCOT attraction is closed for a major reimagining and the entrance area is being completely redone. The canopy was removed last month, making way for pavement work. In our previous update, we reported that the pathway directly in front of the entrance was demolished. After that update, we received a lot of rain in Orlando so not much progress had been made to the exterior.

In the picture above, you can see the mud hole that the entrance became after a rainy night in Orlando.

Test Track Update

This week, we noticed that the entrance of the Test Track attraction was dry. The once muddy hole now has some plywood and platforms inside it. It looks like the configurations are for structural support framing.

Here is a better view of the framing. There are even steal rods in the center of the wooden frames. We’re not sure if the plastic tarp is a leftover from the rain or in preparation for the impending Hurricane Helene. Either way, there is a tarp in place to better protect the newly installed structures.

This is possibly the structural support for the future entrance canopy, which is much smaller than the one we had before. Stay tuned to our website for more updates on the Test Track refurbishment and more in Walt Disney World.

Test Track is scheduled to reopen in 2025. This is the attraction’s second major update. The original version opened in 1998, replacing World of Motion. It was reimagined into Test Track 2.0 in 2012. 3.0 will draw inspiration from World of Motion and “celebrate today’s innovation while highlighting the past, present, and future.”
