Best Disneyland Value: Lightning Lane Multi Pass vs. Premier Pass vs. VIP Tour

With the announcement of the new Premier Pass, an add-on purchase that grants guests access to all the Lightning Lane queues at Disneyland Resort, there are now a few options for those looking to save time in line. We’ve broken down Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, Premier Pass, and VIP Tours to help determine the best value for your money.

Is Lightning Lane Premier Pass the Best Value for Your Money?

The Premier Pass for Disneyland Resort works differently than Walt Disney World. For the rest of 2024, it will have a set price of $400 per person and includes all Lightning Lane attractions at both theme parks.

For comparison, we’ll look at the lowest pricing for Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass prices, plus the base rate for a VIP Tour. A VIP Tour at Disneyland Resort runs from $500 to $800 per hour with a 7-hour minimum. The rate includes up to ten guests.

We’ll take a look at the value for a guest who purchases both the multi pass and the available single passes. The multi pass gives guests the ability to reserve a return time window for one attraction at a time, with no limit on how many can be used per day. For the purpose of the comparison, we will assume that the guest will use the multi pass at three attractions.

By Total Cost

If your overall goal is to experience a few specific attractions, there’s no denying that Multi Pass plus Single Passes is the cheapest option. The overall cost is less than a fourth of the Premier Pass. If you’re not concerned about packing your day with as many attractions as possible, this is your best option.

By Average Price Per Ride

The Multi plus Single Passes option is still the lowest cost, but the VIP Tour is a better value than the Premier Pass if you have a large enough group to split the cost.

By Number of Attractions

If you have 9-10 people in your group — which could easily be the case with extended family, friends, or otherwise — the VIP Tour is your best value for getting the most out of your experience. It offers nearly-unlimited access to attractions with more flexibility and the price is less than Premier Pass for ten people.

Smaller groups may find more value in the Premier Pass, or the extra perks of the tour may be worth the difference in price. Overall, it depends on what you want to get out of your trip.
