Disneyland California Travel Day, Grand Californian & Oogie Boogie Bash 2024 Halloween Party

Our trip to Disneyland kicked off with excitement, starting from the airport and leading into a day packed with fun at Oogie Boogie Bash 2024. Here’s a full breakdown of the day’s adventures!

Traveling to California and Arriving at the Grand Californian

We started early, heading to the airport to catch our flight to LAX. The flight was smooth (with Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray sitting behind me!) and, before we knew it, we had arrived in sunny California. After navigating LAX’s chaotic Uber pickup system, we finally made it to the Grand Californian Hotel, which, as always, felt like stepping into a cozy, luxurious Disney haven.

Upon arriving, we marveled at the Halloween-themed display in the hotel lobby, complete with a Snow White “Old Hag” confectionery creation. The details were stunning, with 280 eggs, 250 lbs of powdered sugar, and 13 hidden Mickeys worked into the design. After a quick tour of our beautiful double queen room, which had a balcony view of the Disneyland Hotel, it was time to get ready for the Oogie Boogie Bash!

Oogie Boogie Bash 2024 at Disney California Adventure

We headed to Disney California Adventure (DCA) a little before the bash started, making the most of our early park entry included with the event ticket. I grabbed a bite at Smokejumpers Grill, where I tried the Villainous Burger—a deliciously spicy burger with pepper jack cheese, chili peppers, and arugula.

As the event kicked off, we jumped into the Halloween fun, starting with character treat trails. Our first stop was Dr. Doofenshmirtz, where I got my fill of candy and plenty of laughs. Then, I made my way to see Hades, who didn’t disappoint with his quick wit and fiery personality. The character interactions really were the stars of the night—each one more immersive and fun than the last!

Next up, we headed to meet Oogie Boogie himself, who was as spooky and entertaining as always, followed by Ernesto de la Cruz singing his haunting tunes. The characters made the event feel incredibly unique, with each interaction adding something special to the night.

Villains Grove and the Parade

As the sun set and fog rolled in, we ventured into Villains Grove, an enchanting walkthrough filled with beautifully eerie lighting and immersive music. Though there were no treats on this trail, the stunning visuals made it a must-do.

The night wrapped up with the spectacular Frightfully Fun Parade. As soon as the music started, the Halloween spirit filled the air, with iconic characters like Jack Skellington leading the charge. It was the perfect way to cap off the event.

Tons of Treats!

After making my rounds through the treat trails, I ended up with an impressive haul of goodies. While Oogie Boogie Bash tends to give out a mix of candy, I noticed a unique variety—Skittles, Rice Krispie Treats, Goldfish, and even fig bars and Craisins!

All in all, the first day of our Disneyland adventure was a huge success. The Oogie Boogie Bash delivered spooky fun, and I’m ready for what’s to come over the next few days, especially the upcoming half marathon events!
