1,700 Disneyland Resort parade and character performers voted to unionize earlier this year. The group, dubbed Magic United, began the unionization process with Actors’ Equity Association in February. They began union elections in May.

Magic United stated on Instagram on Wednesday, October 23, “Our bargaining team heads to the table for the first time today! Share your support as they meet our employers to begin negotiations for our first union contract!”

In an April letter sent to Disneyland Resort’s Labor Relation, the Cast Members said, “Our hope is to keep moving forward in collaboration. We believe improving our collective working conditions will have a direct impact on not only Cast Members’ lives, but the caliber of entertainment we offer at Disneyland Resort.”
