The Disneyland Railroad has begun testing operations at Disneyland Park, indicating that track work has been completed and a reopening could be on the horizon.

We saw the train testing a full loop around Disneyland Park on Wednesday, October 16. With it making a full trip around the park, this indicates that crews have completed the installation of new train tracks.

The new track being installed will connect to a switch that sends trains to the backstage roundhouse, where Disneyland Railroad trains and Monorails are maintained.

We also noticed that construction walls had come down from around every station but those on Main Street, U.S.A. and in New Orleans Square It’s possible that the attraction could reopen sooner rather than later, with guests being allowed to board at the stations in Tomorrowland or Mickey’s Toontown.

At the time of publication, the Disneyland Railroad has no operating hours listed through Thursday, November 28, 2024, which is as far as the Disneyland Resort operating calendar goes.

The Disneyland Railroad temporarily closed on August 5 to allow for the track work to be completed. Before that, guests were unable to board or unload at the New Orleans Square station, due to the ongoing construction in the area between Tiana’s Palace and the Haunted Mansion for the latter’s expanded grounds refurbishment.

The Disneyland Railroad has been an iconic part of the Disneyland experience since the park opened in 1955. It has stations on Main Street, U.S.A., in New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, and Tomorrowland.

The railroad’s five current engines are the C.K. Holliday, E.P. Ripley, Ernest S. Marsh, Fred Gurley, and Ward Kimball. The first four are named for American locomotive legends, while Kimball is named after the Disney Animator who originally inspired Walt Disney’s passion for the railway.
