Work on Disney’s Grand Floridian gingerbread house is progressing quickly, with the front of the house nearly completely covered in gingerbread siding.
Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Progress
The gingerbread house is located in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The gingerbread house framework was completed on Tuesday morning and we saw the bakery team begin installing gingerbread pieces.
By Tuesday evening, the front of the house was almost completely covered in gingerbread siding and shingles. There is still plenty of work to be done, however, as the house will also be decorated with pastry elements like Santa Claus figures, Disney character images, and hidden Mickeys.
This is the 25th year of the Grand Floridian gingerbread house and guests staying at the resort can get a sticker celebrating the occasion. It reads, “Celebrating 25 Years of Gingerbread!” around a gingerbread-like image of the resort’s main building.
The Grand Floridian gingerbread house is always a Victorian-style house but decorations sometimes change each year. Below is what the house looked like last year.
Once complete, Cast Members will sell sweets and merchandise from the house.
While Disney has confirmed several resort hotels will have gingerbread displays this year, they have not announced the specific hotels, displays, or opening dates yet.
Last year’s lineup included a new gingerbread lighthouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, a DuckTales World Showcase Adventure-inspired carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, a Disney100 castle at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, a Disney’s BoardWalk Deli display, a life-size baby giraffe and zebra at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and The American Adventure displays in EPCOT.
