Nightmare Grog Float and Sandy Claws Cup Arrive at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

The new Nightmare Grog and the Nightmare Grog Float have arrived at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland Resort, along with the new seasonal “Nightmare Before Christmas” souvenir cup. But is it worth the stop? Read on for our review.

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar is located at the Disneyland Hotel, and is normally open from 11:30 a.m. to 3:55 p.m. for lunch, and 4 p.m. to 11:55 p.m. for dinner.

Menu at a walk-up bar featuring "Nightmare Grog" drinks, priced from $9.50 to $17.00, including options with Dole Whip and rum.

The regular Nightmare Grog is $9.50, with the Nightmare Grog Float and float with rum $10 and $17, respectively. All three come with a “The Nightmare Before Christmas” souvenir cup.

At first, we thought this was terrible. It was difficult to parse what the flavor profile of the DOLE Whip was supposed to be, but we could certainly tell it was not pineapple.

After asking Cast members, we were informed that the flavoring is a combination of mango, passionfruit, and ginger. It’s a lively combination and something we could see guests enjoying in theory, just not us.

However, going back in for another bite after knowing the flavors in store, and we will say it’s not the worst thing ever. That being said, if you go in expecting a regular DOLE Whip, you’re in for a nasty surprise. It’s worth noting that neither the digital menu on the Disneyland app or the physical menu in person specify what flavor(s) of DOLE Whip are included in the treat.

The coconut rum included with the alcoholic option goes very well with the pineapple juice for the float. We also noticed the texture is quite different from your average DOLE Whip float, specifically that it’s much thicker.

As for the souvenir cup, our Nightmare Grog Float was not served in the cup, and we were handed a clean one separately. This could be helpful for guests not wanting to immediately have to carry around a dirty souvenir cup.
