Is Lightning Lane Premier Pass Worth it in Disney World?

It is finally here! Lightning Lane Premier Pass has debuted at Disney World!

©Disney

We had the opportunity to try out the system at Disneyland last week, and yesterday, we tried out Premier Pass in all four Disney World parks. After a day of riding every single attraction with a Lightning Lane, we gathered our thoughts to see if Lightning Lane Premier Pass was really worth it.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass officially debuted on October 30th. This third Lightning Lane option allows you to ride every attraction within a park once, eliminating the stress of return times and giving you more flexibility to plan your day.

Mad Tea Party Lightning Lane

This new option is only available to those staying at Deluxe Resorts and other select hotels. Like Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass, it can be purchased seven days before check-in. While Premier Pass is limited to a select number of resort guests and sold in limited quantities, even if you stay at a Deluxe Resort, you are not guaranteed to be able to purchase it.

Step-By-Step: How to Buy Lightning Lane Premier Pass on the Disney World App

Lightning Lane

Pricing for Premier Pass is high and varies based on the time of year and the park. Pricing is as follows:

Lightning Lane

We tested this new system out on the first day in all four parks, and here is what we thought!

Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane

To start, it has a very high price jump from Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass, and as expected, you still wait in the same Lightning Lane line and wait the same amount of time as someone who just paid for Lightning Lane Multi or Single Pass.

Everything You Need to Know About Lightning Lanes in Disney World

Lightning Lane

We just do not think it is realistic. There are so many good strategies for getting the most out of the other two Lightning Lane options.

It is obviously very expensive, and it can be hard to justify the cost on top of the expense of tickets, hotel, and food.

How Much Does a Disney World Vacation Cost in 2025?

When you compare Premier Pass to Universal’s Express Pass, we like that Universal has both an unlimited and one-time skip (like the way Premier Pass currently is) option. We could see the cost of Premier Pass being more justified if you got to ride each attraction more than once.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane

We also think it is a shame that you can’t buy it for multiple parks in one go. If you want to purchase Premier Pass for two parks on the same day, it has to be done in two separate transactions.

Lightning Lane

Now, it was not all negative. Premier Pass is super easy to rely on and use. We were able to breeze through our day with the added flexibility of riding attractions when we wanted to. While we did not do this, since you do not have any return times to commit to, it would be easy to return to your resort to take a break during the day to eat, swim, or nap.

Lightning Lane

It was also nice that it included all the Lightning Lanes, including Single Pass attractions.

The Disney World Lightning Lanes That Will Be Impossible To Get in 2025…and How To Get Them

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is included with EPCOT’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass

Overall, if you are willing to pay hundreds of dollars, you are getting almost the same service that a VIP Tour provides for a fraction of the cost. We did not wait more than 15 minutes in any lines. This is a good alternative for a VIP Tour, and you do not have to worry about meeting a time requirement. We loved the added flexibility and found the service to be easy to use, but we just do not think it is realistic. Especially when comparing it to the price point of Lighting Lane Multi and Single Pass.

Winnie the Pooh Lightning Lane

It has only been a day since Premier Pass started, so we will continue to keep an eye out to see if anything changes. For more Disney tips and news, make sure to continue to follow along with Disney Food Blog!

NEWS: Criminal Complaint Filed Against a Former Disney World Employee for Allegedly Altering Menus

A former Disney employee is being accused of hacking into Disney World’s menu creation software and making changes, including manipulating allergen information.

Mr. Kamal’s Menu

A criminal complaint was filed by the FBI that outlines the accusations against this former employee.

A former Disney World employee, Michael Scheuer, has been accused of hacking into the third-party menu creation software used by Disney World to change the allergy information, add profanity, and change fonts to symbols. Scheuer used to work at Disney as a “Menu Production Manager” and was fired back in June 2024 for misconduct, according to the criminal complaint.

The criminal complaint states that Scheuer “knowingly and without authorization caused the transmission of a program, information, code, or command to a protected computer and intentionally caused damage.” Within the complaint, Disney is only referred to as “Company A,” but according to Michael Scheuer’s lawyer, the company mentioned in the complaint is, in fact, Disney.

The Walt Disney Company headquarters in California

The complaint explains how Scheuer accessed the Menu Creator’s servers to change a variety of things, including prices, adding profanity, altering menu QR codes, and changing fonts. Scheuer also made changes that “threatened public health and safety.” The former Disney World employee manipulated the allergen information on the menus to show that some items were safe for those with peanut allergies, even when they were not.

Allergy Menu

As a result of his actions, Disney took the Menu Creator software offline and utilized a manual process for 1-2 weeks. Additionally, Scheuer is accused of conducting attacks to disable the accounts of other Disney employees by “launching denial-of-service attacks against them.” These attacks began on August 29th and affected about 14 Disney employees who were continually locked out of their accounts. From August 29th through October 23rd (the date the criminal complaint was filed), Scheuer attempted more than 100,000 log-ins to these employee’s accounts.

The complaint noted that Scheuer interacted with several employees, or the employees were part of upper-level management. Disney estimated that Scheuer’s actions cost the company at least $150,000.

Scheuer is being accused of “knowingly causing the transmission of a program, information, code, or command to a protected computer and intentionally causing damage without authorization in excess of $5,000,” and a detention hearing is scheduled for November 5th, according to Forbes.

David Haas, Scheuer’s lawyer, made a statement to Forbes saying, “The allegations acknowledge that no one was injured or harmed. I look forward to vigorously presenting my client’s side of the story,” and that Scheuer had a “mental disability that caused a panic attack while he was at work.”

Disney’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Almost Complete for 2024 Holidays

Construction of the gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is almost complete.

Grand Floridian Gingerbread House

The grand multi-level lobby of Disney's Grand Floridian showcases an almost complete gingerbread house, encircled by white drapes and red rope barriers, with a sign standing nearby.

Since work began just a few days ago, the house’s entire framework has gone up and is almost completely covered in gingerbread shingles and siding. Only one side of the tower roof is not covered. For comparison, below is a side-by-side of the house currently and how it looked upon completion last year.

At this point, the bakery team will focus on details like icing flowers and pastry Santa Claus figures. The house isn’t always decorated exactly the same and there already appear to be some differences between the 2023 and 2024 houses. For example, this year there are gingerbread Mickey icons on the decorative fascia of the gable roof. And last year, the walls around the bay windows on the right were not covered in gingerbread.

A large gingerbread house display is under construction in the grand lobby of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, adorned with elegant railings and chandeliers, surrounded by scaffolding and construction materials.

The house isn’t life-size, but it’s big enough for people to enter. A door is hidden on one side, behind two windows. Cast Members will sell baked goods (including gingerbread shingles) and holiday merchandise out of the display.

An almost complete gingerbread house display stands proudly inside the spacious, elegant atrium of Disney's Grand Floridian. The scene is charmingly festive, with tall windows and balconies offering a perfect view. Nearby, a green construction lift hints at the finishing touches still in progress.

The open window on the back with a counter is where guests will purchase items. The TV screen mounted on the right usually displays some of the items available as well as information about the gingerbread house.

A large, detailed gingerbread house display is under construction in the spacious, elegant lobby of Disney's Grand Floridian. Beige walls and white railings frame the scene, where scaffolding and tools surround this sweet masterpiece on its way to becoming complete.

We expect the Grand Floridian gingerbread house to be finished this weekend but an opening date has not been announced. Last year, the house officially opened on November 8. Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort officially begin on November 12, 2024. This is the 25th anniversary of the Grand Floridian gingerbread house.

Disney has confirmed multiple resort hotels will have gingerbread displays again this year. Last year’s lineup included a new gingerbread lighthouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, a DuckTales World Showcase Adventure-inspired carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, a Disney100 castle at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, a Disney’s BoardWalk Deli display, a life-size baby giraffe and zebra at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and The American Adventure displays in EPCOT.

Christmas Stars Installed on Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Christmas stars now line Sunset Boulevard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios as Disney prepares for the holiday season.

These classic pieces of holiday décor are made of red and white tinsel on shaped wire. They jut out from the lampposts lining both sides of the street.

A red and white star decoration hangs on a lamppost along Sunset Boulevard, with a colorful building and palm trees in the background, all under a clear blue sky.

At night, lights hidden within the stars will illuminate, casting the street in a seasonal glow.

The stars lead to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which is lit up with Sunset Seasons Greetings after sunset during the holiday season. The projection show transforms the iconic horror building into a gingerbread house, gift-wrapped present, snowy village, and “Toy Story” hotel.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios also hosts Disney Jollywood Nights, a separately ticketed after-hours event aimed at adults. For the second year of the event, there will be a new ice-skating show, “The Muppet Christmas Carol” photo op, and special character meet and greets. Get your Disney Jollywood Nights tickets.
