The Plaza Restaurant at Magic Kingdom saw the return of a beloved food item, but even we didn’t notice it was back.
The Plaza Restaurant Steak Fries
The restaurant’s classic steak fries were removed amid menu changes in 2016. The Plaza Loaded Fries were introduced at that time, but with shoestring fries like those you might find at any Disney quick-service restaurant. The shoestring fries were also served as a side with entree dishes. The removal of the steak fries and other changes led many guests to stop eating at The Plaza Restaurant.
As of about five months ago, the steak fries are back. We even ate them when we reviewed The Plaza Restaurant’s Halloween items. But it had been so long and we were so focused on our Ghoulishly Gourmet Burger that we didn’t even register the fries had returned.
They are as delicious as ever and far superior to the shoestring fries. They’ll get a 7/7 from us any day and, hopefully, we’ll be able to eat them any day for the foreseeable future.
Have you had the steak fries since their return to The Plaza Restaurant? Or are you more of a shoestring fry person? Let us know in the comments and on social media.
We have been going to this new spot to try so many different treats! We had breakfast and dinner, and of course, we had to try the controversial $23 slices of cake. While there has been backlash from Disney fans about the menu pricing, we have to say that The Cake Bake Shop serves up delicious meals and baked goods. It may not be an everyday restaurant, but it is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. And speaking of celebrating, on top of being a bakery and restaurant, you can also grab a drink at The Cake Bake Shop’s champagne bar!
If you are looking to grab a drink while you are visiting the BoardWalk, look no further than The Cake Bake Shop! Like the rest of the restaurant, the bar is gorgeous, with beautiful white detailing and accents of gold and silver.
The Bar
The bar offers all sorts of drinks, including champagne, wine, cocktails, and beer, so of course, we had to try a drink for ourselves!
Let’s grab a drink!
We went the champagne route and ordered the Bellini for $18.99, which came with St. Hilaire Brut sparkling wine, peach liqueur, and peach purée.
Bellini
This drink was gold and incredible. It was crisp and had a very light taste. The peach puree was present, but it was not overbearingly sweet or too peachy. As expected, it is fizzy and bubbly, making it a great drink for breakfast and brunch and even an after-dinner dessert drink.
So delicious!
As mentioned, it is $18.99, which is pricey, but alcohol at Disney World is typically priced higher. This drink is a little elevated, as it had edible glitter, which made us feel fancy.
We loved this drink!
We would 100% order this drink again and can’t wait to continue to return to The Cake Bake Shop to try all their yummy baked goods and menu items!
Stop by the bar for a drink at The Cake Bake Shop!

Deck the halls! It’s almost time to celebrate the holidays and Disney’s Animal Kingdom is now decked out with Merry Menagerie decorations.
Merry Menagerie Holiday Decor at Animal Kingdom
There are lanterns and other decorations inspired by the Merry Menagerie puppets around Discovery Island, where Merry Menagerie takes place. Fake stylized birds have taken up roost on some of the island’s lampposts.
The rooftops of Riverside Depot and Island Mercantile are lined with white lanterns inspired by animals like owls, foxes, squirrels, and doves.
Crews aren’t done installing lanterns — large gaps between lanterns will eventually be filled in. Some lanterns are on the far corner of Discovery Trading Company.
There are more lanterns on Island Mercantile, continuing around the length of the store.
The artistic style of the lanterns matches that of the Merry Menagerie puppets. Merry Menagerie is a free-style “show” featuring live puppeteers and musicians. The life-size animal puppets wander among Animal Kingdom guests, interacting with them, while the musicians play holiday music.
Around the corner, on the walkway to Pandora – The World of Avatar, is a Merry Menagerie mural. The show doesn’t wander this far, but a PhotoPass photographer will likely be stationed here to take pictures of guests.
The mural is on a backstage gate and depicts the white puppets gathered around the Tree of Life with a colorful background reminiscent of a sunrise and the Aurora Borealis. The animals include polar bears, penguins, arctic foxes, and snowy owls. In the corners are depictions of the shop lanterns.
