We’re less than two months away from 2025, and that means a lot of changes are right around the corner.
On top of the usual events and opportunities Disney World offers throughout the year, 2025 is bringing loads of construction and new attractions to the parks (or at least, laying the groundwork for them). If you’re taking a trip this upcoming year, make sure you’ve got these dates locked into your head to assist with your planning!
January
January will be a pretty wild month in Disney World, seeing permanent attraction closures, runDisney races, the start of After Hours events, a new hotel perk, the start of an EPCOT festival, and more! Let’s break it down.
- January 1st: New Disney World Hotel Water Park perk begins (Guests staying at a Disney World hotel now get free access to Disney’s water parks on the day of their check-in)
- January 6th: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closes for year-long refurbishment
- Select dates January 6th to May 19th: Magic Kingdom After Hours events return — see full dates here!
- January 8th-12th: Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend
- January 13th: TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures officially permanently closed in Animal Kingdom
- January 17th through February 24th: Festival of the Arts in EPCOT
- Select dates January 22nd to September 3rd: After Hours at Hollywood Studios return — see full dates here!
- January 2025 to April 2025: Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort under refurbishment
- January 2025 to June 2025: Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool area at Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts closed for refurbishment
February
February isn’t as hectic when it comes to new additions and events — that is, based on the dates we currently have!
- February 20th-24th: Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend
- Select dates February 27th through September 25th: EPCOT After Hours return — see the full dates here!
April
April comes in hot with another race weekend and a special event that only SOME Disney fans know about.
- April 3rd-6th: runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend
- April 26th and 27th: Dapper Days in Disney World (parks to be announced)
Without Exact Dates
There are also many new additions and events coming to Disney World in 2025 that we don’t have specific dates for just yet, but you still need to keep them on your radar!
- Additional DinoLand U.S.A closures throughout 2025
- Spaceship Earth Lounge in EPCOT
- Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge in Magic Kingdom
- Villains Show taking the former building that housed Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure opening in Hollywood Studios (was originally fall 2024 and has been pushed)
- Test Track reopening in EPCOT with new look
- Zootopia Show at Tree of Life Theater in Animal Kingdom
- Closure of Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat to make way for construction on the Cars-themed land coming to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom
- Additional EPCOT festival dates
- Construction begins on Monsters Inc. Land in Hollywood Studios (which could also mean the closure of another existing area)
- Construction begins on Villains Land in Magic Kingdom (began in late 2024, but could mean the closure of the Walt Disney World Railroad again)
