PHOTOS: Test Track Sign Completely Removed at EPCOT

The main Test Track sign is completely gone from in front of the EPCOT attraction, which is closed and under construction for a major reimagining.

The decoration from atop the sign was removed in September. The “Test Track” lettering was also removed, although sat on the ground next to the sign for some time. Since we last shared a Test Track construction update, the entire structure has been removed.

Closer to the main entrance, old piles of dirt have mostly been removed and flattened. There is some new scaffolding under the exterior track on the left. According to concept art (at the end of this article), a new overhang will be constructed to replace the canopy.

Past the trees on the right is some more scaffolding under the track. There are construction materials all over the sidewalks around Test Track, which closed in June.

We saw crew members carrying a square of plywood out of the Test Track SIMporium. The gift shop entrance has been surrounded by scaffolding for a few weeks, with plywood on the two levels. A blue tarp hangs on the right side of the scaffolding.

Concept art shows a new sign will be installed where the old one used to be. This one is L-shaped with “Test Track” in glowing white letters. The overhang behind the sign will match the building’s pre-existing black and silver paneling.

Disney said Test Track 3.0 will draw inspiration from World of Motion, which Test Track replaced. The original Test Track ran from 1990 to 2012. Test Track 2.0, which you can watch in our video, was open from 2012 to June of this year.
