With the imminent opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park, Critter Country will soon be reimagined as the new “Bayou Country.” The land houses new attractions and old ones with a new spin. These are the top 3 things you HAVE to see in Bayou Country:
1. Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree
Previously known as the Hungry Bear Restaurant, the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree maintains the Country Bear Jamboree theming with a new menu and name. The new restaurant follows the reimagined Country Bear Musical Jamboree that debuted in Walt Disney World earlier this year. There are references to the original and current show abound across the theming at the restaurant, from character portraits to Teddi Barra’s floral swing.
The menu offers barbecue dishes such as pulled pork, brisket, sausage, and corn. Check out our review of the entire menu here.
This spot is one of our favorites since it keeps the beloved Country Bears represented in the original Disney park, despite the actual animatronic music show no longer residing on the West Coast.
2. Louis’ Critter Club
In preparation for the opening of Disneyland’s version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, this new merchandise location takes up the left-hand side of Pooh Corner. Louis’ Critter Club expands the story and characters from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure through theming and visual storytelling, such as carved portraits that name characters from the ride that were not named during the ride itself.
Props and characters such as Mondo can be seen atop merchandise shelves. The merchandise itself is themed to the attraction and the film it is based on, with products such as apparel, bags, and plush toys.

3. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
As expected, the single most exciting thing about Bayou Country has to be its premiere attraction: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! The attraction previously opened in June at Walt Disney World and has been very well received. The ride replaces Splash Mountain, bringing in a major retheme to the interior and exterior of the original ride, turning what was once The Briar Patch into a lush green bayou. The arrival of the ride has influenced further updates to the land around it, turning Critter Country into the more thematically appropriate “Bayou Country.” That said, the land still houses plenty of adorable critters.
One of the most exciting aspects of this new attraction is the highly advanced animatronic technology used for characters such as Tiana throughout the ride. These animatronics have previously been seen most often at the Asian Disney parks, rarely represented in America. The figures have advanced, fluid movements and more realistic mouth articulation, better immersing riders into the world of “The Princess and the Frog.”
