Raymond Firefly Straw Clip – $7.99

with purchase of beverage

The straw clip features Raymond the firefly from “The Princess and the Frog.” He hangs from a swirly straw (or other item of your choosing) by a black lobster claw clip.

The foam circle on his back comes off, so it doesn’t accidentally activate and drain battery. The light stays one color, but it does fade in and out.

Catfish Po’boy – $17.99

Southern-style dusted Catfish Filet with Lettuce, Tomatoes and Mayonnaise on Toasted New Orleans French Bread with Remoulade Sauce, served with Red Beans & Rice and House-made Pickles

The house-made pickles are very good.

The sandwich is a little unwieldy — the components are too large to properly close the bun. It’s a nice piece of catfish but the sandwich as a whole is bland. There’s not enough going on here.

The red beans and rice is fantastic and very spicy. It’s the highlight of the dish. The sides are better than the entrée here.

Jambalaya – $17.49

Chicken, Andouille Sausage, Heritage Rice and Creole Sauce

Back when it was the French Market, we loved the jambalaya, but this is very different. It’s really good, though. The chicken and andouille sausage are tender and juicy, the rice is nicely cooked, and the creole sauce has a great kick. The serving is too small for the price point, though.

Classic Beignets – $5.99

Two Fresh Beignets dusted with Powdered Sugar and Honey Drizzle

The Classic Beignets were only available for the Grand Opening weekend, from November 15 – 17.

These were very crispy but they were terrible. Hard, chewy, and just plain bad. It’s a good thing they were limited time so no one is subjected to them.

House-Filled Beignet – $4.99

featuring Strawberry Cream Filling topped with Strawberry Glaze

This was better but not by much. The cream almost helps but it’s really artificial and not very appetizing.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Though Tiana’s Palace is in New Orleans Square, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is in the newly-renamed Bayou Country (formerly Critter Country). The attraction is a reimagining of the former Splash Mountain that follows Princess Tiana after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.”
