Back at the 2024 D23 Expo, it was announced that Andy’s toys would be going on yet another adventure! 

That’s right, Disney Pixar will be continuing the Toy Story series with Toy Story 5! It looks like the beloved film series will be going to infinity and beyond! Here at DFB we are beyond excited — all though, we are wondering how the story can continue based on how the last one ended.

Toy Story is not only one of the most beloved Disney movies of all time, but one of the most beloved animated movies. It’s filled with iconic characters and timeless music. It’s such a fan-favorite that Hollywood Studios has a whole Toy Story Land!

It was hinted over the past few years that another instalment of the film series could be coming, and now it’s official! The storyline sounds interesting and fun, as the toys will fight for attention from kids as they compete with electronics. But we’ve known that, now we have some new details regarding the fifth movie!

Buzz Lightyear has had some iconic moments — like his competition with the new and improved Buzz from Toy Story 2, or his Spanish mode from Toy Story 3! Well get ready for more Buzz, because Toy Story 5 is supposed to open up with an “UNBELIEVABLE Buzz Lightyear scene”, per Variety via X. We love an good Buzz moment, so we’re excited to see what this means for the next movie!

If you’re a fan of the iconic cowgirl, Jessie, then you’re going to love this. It was revealed that we’re going to be getting a lot of Jessie, as the plot will be heavily focused on her! We saw at the end of Toy Story 4 Woody gave her the mantle of being the ‘leader’ of Andy’s toys (by giving her his sherif badge). So it’ll be interesting to see where her story goes, and what it looks like with her replacing Woody as the ‘main’ toy.

Lastly, Tim Allen revealed that Woody and Buzz WILL reunite — YEEHAW! Based on how Toy Story 4 ended, we didn’t know if we would see the iconic partners back together again. However, it looks like we will see them together!

Pete Docter, Chief Creative Officer of Pixar, announced that Andrew Stanton, who worked with Pete on the first Toy Story, directed Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, and Wall-e, will be directing Toy Story 5! 

The new installment will be coming exclusively to theaters in 2026, and we are beyond excited! Fans of Toy Story will get to continue the adventure soon. How will this movie work based on how the last one ended? We have no idea! But, we look forward to watching this film and seeing what’s in store!
